Parts Interchangability for a Roadmaster Base Plate Kit on My 2009 Honda Fit
Updated 07/27/2009 | Published 07/24/2009 >
Question:
I use a Roadmaster hitch to tow my 2002 VW Beetle and have kit number 521225-1 installed that vehicle. I am trading it in on a 2009 Honda Fit and understand I need kit number 521190-1 for the Honda. My question is: is the draw bar portion of the kits interchangeable and, if so, could I purchase just the portion of the kit that bolts to the new vehicle. That way I could use the draw bars off my VW on the Honda. They look the same in the drawings but, I thought I better check first. PS: If this will work, can you sell me a 521190-1 without the draw bars?

The Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit, part number 521190-1, is the correct kit for your 2009 Honda Fit.
I am sorry but the base plate kits are sold only as a complete set. When the kits are manufactured the brackets are universal fit but the draw bar portion of the kit, while being very similar part to part, are specifically matched, for that base plate kit only. We do not sell the vehicle side brackets only.
