  • What is the Difference between Curt Ball Mounts C45112 and 45110
Curt ball mounts # C45112 and 45110 are essentially the same with a slight difference in overall length. The C45112 is 14 inches long and the 45110 is 13 inches long.

  • Hitch Solution for 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI that Can Do Ball Mount Rise of 9 inches
I really wish there was a good solution for your problem but with Class I hitches like what you have there isn't a way to use a taller rise ball mount. The added length and leverage of the taller ball mount just is too much stress on the lower capacity hitch. Aside from going to a 2 inch hitch I really don't have a solution I can provide.

  • How to Increase Height of Trailer Hitch Ball to Allow Boat Trailer to be Towed Level
Ideally a hitched trailer will be level to the ground. We often recommend starting off with the hitch ball being a bit higher - an inch or so - than the top of the coupler on the level trailer since once hitched there will be a degree of squat in the rear of the tow vehicle from the trailer tongue weight. This is perfectly acceptable. You can select a different ball mount for your hitch that gives you additional height (rise) by using the link provided at right. For example, if you want...

  • Recommended Ball Mount for 2020 Hyundai Kona SEL
Hi Daniel; that information is a good start and with a little more I can help you find the best ball mount to tow a U-Haul trailer. Based on how low the 2020 Kona sits I'm sure you need a ball mount with a few inches of rise. To find the right rise/drop you're going to need two measurements, the hitch height and the coupler height. If you can measure from the ground (level ground) to the top of your hitch receiver opening that is what I need. You can see this in the help article attached...

  • Hitch Adapter to Raise Bike Rack
There are no hitch adapters that offer just rise for a 1-1/4" hitch. What bike rack do you have? If it is one we carry we may be able to find you something to convert it to a 2" rack, or there is also the possibility of a new rack with a shank that has rise. If you let me know what rack you have I may be able to find a solution for you.

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for 8 inches Of Rise
8 inches of rise would be exactly what you'd need to tow your trailer level as long as the hitch measurement you took was from the top of the hitch opening to the ground. For that we have the part # C45112 which has 8 inches of rise and would work well.

  • How to Determine Correct Ball Mount To Keep Towed Trailer Level for Best Handling
There's a simple way to determine how much drop (or rise) you need from a ball mount in order to keep your towed trailer level. A level trailer handles better so you're wise to get it right! Please refer to the linked article. This explains how to measure the hitch receiver height on the Highlander and also the coupler height on the level trailer. The difference between the two is the drop or rise needed in the ball mount. Hitch height - trailer height = drop; trailer height - hitch height...

  • How Can I Transport My 14 Ft. Laser Sailboat on My 2016 Honda Fit?
I have a great solution for that will work with the weight/length of your 130-pound Laser Sailboat on your 2016 Honda Fit. Unfortunately, with the approximate 125 pound maximum weight capacity of your roof, you will not be able to adhere to the roof rack weight limit since it exceeds the roof capacity. With that being said, the safest way to transport your sailboat is by trailer. I recommend the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer - 66" # Y08106. With the Rack and Roll trailer, you will have...

  • Adjustable Ball Mount Recommendation that Can be Used with Cruisemaster DO35 Coupler
Since the Cruisemaster DO35 requires a ball mount platform with a 1 inch diameter ball hole you'd need an adjustable ball mount that uses a traditional style of ball mount platform like the Convert-a-Ball Adjustable-Height Ball Mount # TK5007 which would work well. This can do up to 10 inches of drop or 9 inches of rise. I attached a review video for this ball mount for you to check out as well.

  • Recommended Ball Mount with Correct Drop to Tow Trailer Level
It sounds like you need a ball mount with a drop of at least 8 or 9 inches. A couple options are the Curt # C45090 with 8 inches of drop and the Curt # C45112 with 10-1/4 inches of drop. Another option since you're not positive exactly how your trailer is going to sit when hooked up is to go with an adjustable ball mount. The Weigh Safe 2-Ball Mount # WS10-2 will give you up to 10 inches of drop so you have the ability to choose the best height for your trailer. This also has a built...

  • How to Pick Out Ball Mount for Lifted Truck Towing Trailer
The amount of drop that a ball mount needs is based on two measurements. The distance from the top of the hitch opening to the ground and from the bottom of the coupler lip to the ground on the trailer. Comparing those two dimensions will get you the amount of drop you need. The other option is to go with an adjustable ball mount which is also helpful for future trailers as well. We have the B and W Tow and Stow ball mount part # BWTS10049B which can do up to 7 inches of drop and comes...

  • Long Ball Mount, Anti-Sway, Brake Controller & Transmission Cooler for 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
We can definitely help you out, and you are right about the factory tow package hitch on a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited being a Class II hitch, though it also has a 2 inch receiver, which is an odd combo not seen on aftermarket hitches. That said, if your current hitch is bolted on (and not welded) I highly recommend replacing it with an aftermarket hitch, the Class III Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT78MR. This hitch is compatible with a weight distribution system, and that is definitely...

  • How to Pick Out Correct Drop Ball Mount for a Ram Truck with 6 inch lift
You actually will have to be the one to determine the amount of drop you would need but I can easily explain how to do this. You will need to measure from the top of your hitch opening down to the ground and then measure from the bottom lip of your coupler to the ground on your trailer when it is sitting totally level. The difference between these two numbers is the amount of drop you would need. With that info check out the link I attached where you can pick the drop you need from the filters.

  • What is Hitch Height for etrailer Hitch # e98848 When Installed
When we had the chance to install the etrailer hitch # e98848 on a similar 2022 Honda CR-V we found that from the top of the hitch opening down to the ground it measured 14 inches. So you would need a ball mount that has an 8 inch rise to tow your Rack and Roll trailer like with the Curt # C45112.

  • Distance From Hitch Pin Hole to Gusset on Curt Ball Mount C45112
Yep, you're exactly right; the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the welded gusset is indeed four inches on the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # C45112. So if that's the amount you need for it to work without hitting the bumper then you're set.

  • Why Does Curt Ball Mount part # C45112 Have Higher Capacity in Drop Position
If you look at the support bracket that is welded behind the ball mount platform of the Curt Ball Mount part # C45112 it provides more support in the drop position than in the rise. When in the drop position the bracket works to support ball mount and it's mainly the metal of the bracket that is doing this. When in the rise position that bracket is really only adding the strength of the welds of the bracket to prevent it from bending down. That's why it has a higher capacity in the drop...

  • Parts Needed To Tow a Trailer Using EcoHitch On 2016 VW Golf R
The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7332 is an excellent option for a 2016 Volkswagen Golf R. It can be used for towing but you'll also need a trailer wiring harness and ball mount/hitch ball. For a trailer wiring harness, I recommend the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter part # C59236. For the ball mount/hitch ball, you'll need to measure to get this right. I have attached an article below. If the Curt Ball Mount part # C45112 ends up being correct you can use the...

  • Recommendations for Carrying 4 Kayaks on a 2017 Ford Escape
Carrying 4 kayaks on a vehicle roof is going to require a special type of carrier and the kayaks would have to be carried on their sides directly on roof rack crossbars. The first thing you will need is a roof rack that includes crossbars that run side to side if your 2017 Ford Escape does not already have one. I have included a link to the roof rack main page for your vehicle. There are 2 roof options listed, not existing rails or crossbars and factory raised rails. Choose the type that...

  • How to Pick Out Correct Rise/Drop Ball Mount for Van Towing Trailer
I attached an FAQ that details how to pick out the correct ball mount for you to check. Basically picking out the correct ball mount will allow your trailer to sit as level as possible. If you need more clearance and your trailer is sitting low up front then going with a higher rise would what you'd need. But if you are already level we can't recommend using a higher ball mount since your trailer won't ride properly with the nose pointed in the air. Basically you will first measure the...
