Be it a utility trailer or a mid-sized RV, this hitch ball ensures a secure connection and stable towing experience, so you can travel with confidence, knowing your trailer is firmly attached.

Corrosion-Resistant Chrome Finish: Long-Lasting Shine and Durability

No one wants a hitch ball that starts to rust after just a few uses. With its durable chrome-plated finish, the CURT Hitch Ball provides superior corrosion resistance, maintaining its shine and structural integrity even in challenging weather conditions. Its resilient finish means more time towing and less time worrying about upkeep, making it a lasting investment for frequent haulers.

Perfect Fit for Various Trailers: 1-1/4" Diameter Shank and 2-5/8" Length

Compatibility matters when choosing a hitch ball. The 1-1/4" diameter and 2-5/8" long shank offer a precise fit for a wide range of trailers, especially those with a larger coupler design. Whether you have a classic utility trailer or a customized setup, this hitch ball fits smoothly, ensuring hassle-free installations and strong, reliable connections on every trip.

Fine Threaded Shank for Maximum Security: Strong Grip and Ease of Use

A hitch ball that loosens during transit is a nightmare scenario. The fine-threaded shank of the CURT Hitch Ball guarantees a secure grip between the ball and mount, ensuring that it stays firmly in place under load. This design simplifies tightening and prevents back-off during use, making it easy to achieve the 450-ft-lbs torque requirement for optimum safety and performance.

Wrench Flats for Easy Installation: Simplifying the Process

Installation doesn’t have to be a struggle. With the built-in wrench flats on the CURT Hitch Ball, you can easily hold the ball in place while securing the nut. Video Transcript for Ultimate Overview of the 2" Hitch Ball

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff from etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Curt two inch chrome hitch ball. With a 10,000 pound weight, gross towing weight capacity. Now this hitch ball provides the connection point for your trailer's coupler. This one you can see is a nice durable corrosion resistant chrome finish.

A few dimensions on this. The diameter and the ball is two inches. The weight capacity, which will be stamped on the top is 10,000 pounds. Now I do want to give you a few critical dimensions. So when you go to purchase a hitch ball, you do want to make sure it'll fit your ball mount.

So the one of them is the length of the shank, which is this portion here. So we're gonna measure from the bottom to the end of the shank. So the length on this one is going to be right at two and five eights inches long. The other critical measurement is the diameter to make sure it'll fit into the ball hole of your ball mount. So on this one is gonna be right at one and a quarter inches. So again, this is designed to fit a ball mount with a one and a quarter inch ball hole and the thickness of the ball mount needs to be either a half inch up to one inch thick and this will fit on there correctly.

Now, if you notice it does include the lock washer and the nut. So when you do go to install this, you'll drop this through the hole in your ball mount. Put your lock washer on, take your nut, go ahead and start it. And then tighten it down to the torque specs that are recommended. Now, the height on this ball mount once it's installed from the bottom here to the very top, it's gonna be right at two and three quarter inches from the bottom of the flange to the top of the ball.

And when you do install this, it will require a socket size of one and seven eighths inches to fit this nut. But that should do it for the review on the Curt two inch chrome hitch ball with the 10,000 pound gross towing weight capacity.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System for 2018 Keystone Summerland 1750RD
The most important thing to consider when picking out a weight distribution system is the total tongue weight of your setup. This number includes the loaded tongue weight of the trailer (as if it's ready for a trip) along with any added cargo weight you might have loaded behind the rear axle of your F-250. Ideally this number falls comfortably within the operating range of the system you choose. Based on my research your 2018 Keystone Summerland 1750RD Trailer does indeed have an empty...

This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use. A system like this can be used with...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System for Camping Trailer
The most important thing to know when selecting a weight distribution system is your total tongue weight, which is the tongue weight of your fully loaded trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2016 Ram 1500. Your total tongue weight needs to be in the middle of the weight distribution system's tongue weight capacity in order for the system to work effectively. • Reese Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 1,050 lbs of Tongue Weight
If your loaded tongue weight is 1,050 lbs then the Reese Weight Distribution system part # RP66542 would work well as it has a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs which would work well for you. The only setup that would be better would be the Strait Line part # RP66084 as it has the same tongue weight range but has a sway control system that stops sway before it starts. For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.

  • Recommended Sway Control for a 2019 Ram 1500 w/ Air Ride Pulling a Pop-Up Trailer
Hey Chip! If you're dealing with that much sway, I would recommend a weight distribution system not one of the SumoSpring systems. I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control item # FA92-00-0450. This system is built for smaller trailers like yours and works with tongue weights up to 450 lbs. With the weight of your trailer and gear combined this would definitely get that sway under control. Since you already have factory air ride and it's not helping your sway...

Your best option is going to be the Reese Strait Line part # RP66084 as it has a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs which would be perfect for your tongue weight of 725 lbs. The sway control on this system is the only style on the market that actively works to prevent sway before it starts. The other very popular option is the Equalizer WD system part # EQ37101ET which would also work great with 725 lbs of tongue weight but instead uses 4 point of friction for sway control. • Weight Distribution Recommendation for 6,000 lb Camper Trailer
You'd be fine to have a weight distribution installed on your trailer as you travel on the hill you described. If anything it might help prevent the trailer from leaning excessively. For a 6,000 lb trailer you'd be looking at a tongue weight most likely of 600 to 900 lbs so the weight distribution with sway control that I would recommend is the Strait Line part # RP66084 which has a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs and features only sway control designed to fight sway before it starts. Any time you are towing a trailer that has a fully loaded weigh that is over 50 percent of the vehicle's gross weight, a weight distribution system is recommended. The Fastway systems are very high quality for the cost, and the built in two point sway control does a great job of keeping your trailer going straight down the highway. • Recommended Weight Distribution for Towing a 20 Foot Trailer with a 2017 Ram 1500
A weight distribution (WD) system is needed when the trailer weighs at least half of the curb weight (unloaded weight) of the tow vehicle. Since this is the case with your 2017 Ram 1500 and the 20' travel trailer you are looking at I definitely recommend using a WD system. In looking up your 2017 Coleman FQ online, it appears that your trailer has a dry weight of 3205 and a dry hitch tongue weight of 453. Based on it's length and weight, I think you are wise to consider a weight distribution system with sway control as I believe sway will be an issue and the weight distribution anti-sway systems are far better than the friction bars. With a lightweight trailer with a 21 foot 5 inch length preventing sway is just as important as correcting sway. With a weight...

The weight distribution will make your drive much safer as you will be able to eliminate the rear end sag. It also has sway control built in to help keep the trailer tracking straight down the road.
