We’re trying to separate our fifth wheel hitch into two parts in order to move it into the truck. Any advice?

The easiest way to separate the B&W Companion, whether you have the Stationary # BWRVK3500 or the Slider # BWRVK3400, is to remove the 2 pins holding the head unit to the base and then simply lift the head off of the base. The head unit itself weighs in at about 70 lbs so this would definitely help in reducing the weight you are lifting at one time.
Aside from that you can keep the hitch in one piece and use the Lifting Bracket # DM6100 or go the pre-historic route and disassemble the entire hitch and install/remove it piece by piece.
