Does The Demco Autoslide DM34QV Come With Everything Needed To Install In A 2005 Ford F-250?

Question:

I have a 2005 Ford F250 short bed and I am looking at your 5th wheel auto slider part number DM34QV. Does it come with everything I need for installation? And am I also looking at the correct hitch for my truck?

Hi Scott!

The Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Super Duty - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 18,000 lbs # DM34QV does indeed include everything you need for your 2005 Ford F-250 short bed. Base rails, custom install brackets, hitch, and the adapter plates to attach the hitch to the rails.

That said, if you aren't going to be keeping this hitch installed full time, I highly recommend also grabbing the Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket # DM6100. This hitch is heavy (like 270 pounds all together) and moving it isn't an easy task. This lifting bracket can be hooked to a winch or cherry picker/engine hoist to make the process a lot less strenuous. I highly recommend it.

What kind of 5th wheel are you going to be towing?

It’s a 2014 Montana 318 fifth wheel camper. Dry weight 9200 pounds with a payload of 3000 pounds hitch weight is 1930

Also since I have you, can you please explain to me how this auto slide works? How does it know to slide back when turning when traveling forward and how does it slide back when moving in reverse? Sorry it just intrigues me

@Scott Absolutely! So when you are turning, the head will basically reach a point that slides it back. If you jump to the 3 minute mark in the video I have linked, it will do a lot better job of explaining that. Verlin is our contact at Demco and he does a great job of explaining it. ^___^
