Recommended Lifting Bracket And Crane For Removing 5th Wheel Hitch

Will it do damage to the king pin and pin box to let my Pullrite super glide hitch hang off the king pin when not attached to truck?

I reached out to PullRite and they said you can definitley use the trailer to remove the hitch from your truck, but you don't want to leave it hanging there. They suggest lowering onto saw horses or another sturdy surface. That is a lot of weight to leave on your pin box and king pin as well as the jaws of your hitch.

I know that there are people that will use the MaxxTow Hydraulic Pickup Truck Crane for 2" Hitches - 1,000 lbs # MT70238 along with the Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket # DM6100 and I recommend this if you don't want to manually lift the hitch out of your bed. The crane cannot reach far enough into the bed to put the hitch in position so there will still be some manual lifting involved, but the lifting into the truck bed will be a huge help.
