Ordered a Curt shank, with more drop for my new F-250, to fit a Husky dist. hitch, perfectly. Received promptly, and installed the same day! Waiting on the weekend to pull the camper!

Still working great. Would prefer a tighter fit in the receiver, but, other hitches have similar fit. Great product!

by:

Fit perfect on my E2 Fastway weight distribution system.

by:

This was a perfect drop hitch for a 2018 ford f350. Bought to use with a reese weight Distribution system and works great. Good product and a great place to buy!

by:

Fit great well made.

by:

Had a little hard time getting the head on the shank but otherwise great product thank you

Still working great we pull our camper every weekend.

Exactly what I needed to level out my weight distribution hitch. As always etrailer had a great price, for a great product, with amazing costumer service. They are now my go to retailer for all of my trailer needs.

by:

worked great with a hitch that came with a used camper I got. need this to fit my lifted 3/4 ton truck.

by:

Ordered this for my 2016 Ram 3500. The truck is stock but is still higher than the previous 1500. In setting it up for a trailer height and weight distribution hitch height of 19 inches I found that there were still had three holes below the bottom bolt of the hitch. It has worked flawlessly and would recommend this shank. PS. The shank is 9.5 inches from the ground. Still plenty of clearance.

It works as designed. Highly recommended.

Awesome customer service. Called beginning of May to order the drop shank. Asked if I could hay it before May 21st. Got an email same day that it was shipping out and received it 3 days later. Anytime I am bending something for my trailers or towing. This will be the first place I got. Thanks

by:

Just what I needed for my jayco 23b and 2020 Silverado 2500hd. Perfect drop for my equalizer hitch, trailer rides nice and level.

by:

Heavy as hell and built to last, having mounted it and the hitch on it, adjusting and then removing, let me tell you this is seriously built and sturdy. I will have confidence in towing my 6500 lb RV from my lifted 4WD (4") utilizing the drop capability of this hitch. Needed 2 1/2 inches more drop and still not using the last three holes of capability.

by:

Just the right size on my Ford Tremor for dropping my weight distribution hitch to line up with my car trailer

by:

Hitch works very good. No need for the sleeve adapter anymore. Only issue I had was it was too much of a drop. Had to cut about three holes off of the bottom. Otherwise I was hitting ground going into driveways.

by:

Just recieved my Curt 8" drop shank for my weight distribution hitch, just what I needed for my lifted truck to be able pull my RV. Awesome Customer service. Thanks again

by:

So far, product has performed as advertised. This weight distribution hitch shank is made by Curt but I have a Reese hitch. The Reese hitch head fit like they are made for each other. This will allow my travel trailer to be towed in a level position.

by:

Works as expected. Wish there was less “slop”. When not connected to a trailer I can hear it bounce around in my receiver. There are a few entrances that I do drag on. My truck is a stock 2022 ram 3500 dually.

by:

The hitch shank is good quality. I bought for a stock 2018 F350 4 wheel drive. It was actually a little longer than I needed. I probably could have gotten by with the shorter shank.

by:

Great service and very knowledgeable staff at etrailer. Will be shopping here again for sure!

by:

The shank that came was exactly what I ordered and arrived a day earlier than expected. Works great with my eaz lift weight distribution hitch.

by:

I used the c17132 shank to replace my original 2” camper trailer shank, which was not big enough to fit on my new 2500 ram. It works great. No slack or shake and makes pulling so much better.

by:

Great product Timely shipping easy to track order I would definitely recommend etrailer for any towing needs

by:

Exactly what I was looking for to use with my 2019 Ram 2500 and pair with our round bar setup for our camper, extremely heavy well built product that will last for a life time!

by:

excellent customer service and fast shi pping

by:

Exactly what I needed and shipping was amazingly fast! Thank you so much eTrailer!!

  • Dimensions Of Curt Weight Distribution Shank C17132
I went to the warehouse and measured the Curt Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2" Hitches # C17132 and it measures 9" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the vertical portion of the shank. I have attached a diagram with some other measurements I took as well that may be helpful.

  • Best Weight Distribution Shank for a 2018 Ram 2500
I have exactly what you need for your 2018 Ram 2500. For this, I recommend the Curt Weight Distribution Shank part # C17132 which has a 2-1/2" shank that offers up to an 9-1/4" drop. According to the measurements you provided, you will need a shank with a 7-3/4" drop which means the above shank will be perfect for you. It is also the most amount of drop we offer in a 2-1/2" weight distribution shank. The hole size and spacing follows the industry standard so it will work on most other weight...

  • What Air Bags and Weight Distribution System For 2023 F-250 Pulling Trailer with 1,000lbs TW?
Hello Dan, Definitely on the right road to a smoother ride (pun intended). I would say that you knowing you are on the heavier end of the tongue weight you are safe finding one around the 1k mark. You just want to make sure you are closer to the tongue weight than the trailer weight. I am not sure how much you are looking to spend, but I set up my brother-in-law up with the B&W Continuum Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # BW28FR and he has nothing but great things to say about...

  • Is it Safe To Use a 2-1/2 to 2 Inch Reducer Sleeve With a Weight Distribution Trailer Hitch?
There is no problem using a 2-1/2" to 2" Receiver Reducer Sleeve # e26YR with a weight distribution hitch. This way you will not need to replace your Shank # C17132 unless you have a significantly taller receiver on your new 3/4 ton truck. The Hitch Receiver Immobilizer III # BX88312 will allow you to remove the additional rattle you will notice in the receiver by using the additional reducer sleeve with your weight distribution hitch.

The Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution Systems like part # C17501 all come with the standard 2" shank with 1/2" drop. That said, you can add the 2-1/2" shank part # C17132 separately which has an 9-1/4" drop.

The Curt Weight Distribution Shank part # C17132 is just what you need to use a weight distribution system on a trailer hitch with 2-1/2" receiver tube opening without using a 2-1/2" to 2" sleeve adapter. The shank does narrow down for use with a standard weight distribution head. In other words, the weight distribution head for a 2-1/2" hitch is the same for a 2" hitch.

  • Will The Curt C28KR Ball Platform Work With A Weight Distribution Shank C17132
Hello Chris. The Curt # C28KR ball platform for the Rebellion XD will NOT fit on a # C17132 weight distribution shank. The channel isn't wide enough. The channel is about 1-1/2 inches wide, and the WD shank is 2" wide. The C28KR ball platform is only compatible with the Curt Rebellion XD ball mount, which is currently unavailable. • What Equal-i-zer Shank is Closest to Curt 17132 Shank Size?
Hey Aaron, thanks for reaching out! The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank # EQ94FR will be your best bet since it has a 9" drop compared to the 9-1/4" drop from your Curt Shank # C17132. If you can let me know what exact amount of drop you're needing I can check and see if we have any that are closer to what you're needing. The slop you're seeing is normal for all things towing. Hitch receiver and ball mount manufacturers know that there are tolerances on both sides of the equation...

If you only have the shank that came with your Blue Ox SwayPro system, then you will almost definitely need a longer shank to tow with a lifted F-350. The good news is the brand isn't all that important because most shanks are interchangeable between brands and we can help you figure out what size shank you will actually need. • Choosing Correct Weight Distribution Shank
To determine the amount of drop you'll need your replacement shank to have, take a height measurement from the top inside edge of the receiver tube to the ground, then measure from the bottom of the trailer's coupler to the ground (make sure trailer is level when taking the measurement) then subtract the coupler height from the hitch height. The result is the amount of drop you'll need. We do offer weight distribution shanks for 2-1/2 inch receivers, and the hole spacing for the weight...

  • Weight Distribution for Truck with Lift Kit and Trailer that Weighs 8,000 lb
Hey Jeremy, for trucks that are lifted like yours are the best solution is a WD system that has a longer drop shank with it so that the trailer can be towed level. So the Curt shank part # C17132 that you mentioned would have the needed drop but it fits 2-1/2 inch hitches unlike what your F-150 would have. So the Equal-i-zer part # EQ90-00-1001 would work great as it has a tongue weight range of 600 to 1,000 lbs and is widely considered to be the best system around. Then for a shank the...

  • Can I Pull A Travel Trailer With The Roadmaster High Low Adapter RM-058-4?
The Roadmaster High Low Adapter for Tow Bars - 2-1/2" Hitches # RM-058-4 is only made for flat towing because flat towing does not put much stress or tongue weight on the hitch. Whereas with trailer towing, there is always some stress and tongue weight put on the hitch and adapter. While they may work, as you have seen people do this, I still do not recommend using it in that manner. Instead, I would just use a drop hitch to accomplish this. Congratulations on your new truck! Your new 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4WD will sit a bit higher than your older GMC Sierra 1500 2WD, so if you are currently using the hitch with it near the lowest possible drop, you will more than likely need to use a longer shank. Either way I would wait to measure and try it before placing an order for a new one. The part # C45927 is a different approach to the same thing but is basically a 20k adjustable ball mount like you said you'd want as well. If you still have issue, please confirm the type of system you're using with the shank.
