What's up everybody, Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Bulldog Cast Adjustable Trailer Coupler. So this is gonna be for your two and 5/16th inch ball. If you don't have one, make sure you get one and make sure you confirm the size that you do have if you have one, make sure it's gonna work with this. This is gonna be for some of the heavier duty applications. Gonna have a capacity of 14,000 pounds.
It's made of cast, nice powder coated finish. So it's not gonna rust away over time. And this is going to need to fit into a channel of three inches. So just make sure we measure on the inside here. And this is three inches.
There is a little bit of play, not a whole lot. So if you did have a washer, you can maybe put it in there and that'll kind of get it a little bit tighter. So you're not gonna be hearing this, whenever you're going down the road. We do have some hardware that's included, both the bolt and nylon locknut, two of them, and it's nice and that it comes with them 'cause some of them don't and all you need is a 24 millimeter socket to wrench them down. This does have a wedge style latch.
And so this latch is not gonna be a latch that's gonna stay up on its own. It's spring loaded. So if you did wanna upgrade to anything, there is a couple different ones that we have. This is the one we took off. So this is an easy latch.
So I like the easy latches, it's definitely gonna be an upgrade because you go up to your trailer, you open this up, it'll stay open. And then the second that you go down on the ball, I can't really do it right now, but it'll snap in a place for you. So you don't have to do it manually. One thing you're gonna need for your trailer for the coupler, actually, is just a little pin. So once you clip it down, you do want to put this and insert into this little hole right here. This is this one's a little long. So if you really wanted something that's super super tight against it. It's about an inch and a quarter from one edge to the other. So definitely grab one of those. If you don't have one, it is a necessity. Whenever you're hauling around your trailer we just wanna make sure you're nice and safe. We do have a lot of options of that on our website. And if you don't have a channel like this we also sell that as well. You will have to weld it on just make sure you have a good welder or somebody who knows how to weld to do that. When it comes to this, I think the upgrade is definitely gonna be the easy latch, but there are some other options that are gonna stay open. Kind of like this one right here. So you can pull this up and then whenever it's done you can go ahead and just fold it back in. Once you lower it down on the trailer, I think this will be an upgrade as well, but I'm not really a fan of this latching system compared to the easy latch. So if you want my recommendation easy latch, it's better, quicker, simpler. But if this is something that is gonna get the job done, you don't need anything fancy. It's gonna be a really good entry level option to just get a nice high quality heavy duty coupler on the front of your trailer. The overall lengths about nine and a quarter inches. And then from the center of the mounting holes to the farthest point it's about eight and a quarter inches. And then just the amount of length we're gonna add to our trailer. It's about seven. And that'll do it for a look at the Bulldog Cast Adjustable Trailer Coupler..
