What Causes Loose Fit of Weight Distribution Head on 2.5" Curt Shank
Updated 05/18/2023 | Published 05/16/2023 >
Question:
When I received this hitch I went to pull the distribution head off my other hitch and put it on this one. When I went to put the bolts in I noticed they were loose in the holes of this hitch. With it all bolted together the dist head has a lot of front to back movement because the 3/4 bolts sit in the holes very loose. On a tape measure the holes on this hitch are about 13/16, the bolts are 3/4, am I doing something wrong?

I spoke to Curt about the issue you are having with the Curt Weight Distribution Shank for 2.5" Hitches part # C17132. The adjustment holes on the upright are .78" +/- .05" but if you were measuring with a tape measure, it's not unlikely to get 13/16" or close. I recommend that you ensure the bolts are torqued to the proper spec and that the head tilt mechanism (if equipped) is installed properly.
If you still have issue, please confirm the type of system you're using with the shank.
