These steel backing plates for the 2' E-track in your enclosed trailer provide more support than just securing it with using wood or metal screws. Bolt each plate to your E-track on the opposite side of the wall or under the floor.

Features:

  • Backing plates provide extra support for your 2' E-track (sold separately)
    • Perfect for use in an enclosed trailer with a thin wall or floor
  • Multiple pre-drilled holes make plates compatible with horizontal or vertical E-tracks
  • Galvanized steel construction is strong and corrosion resistant
  • Simple, bolt-on installation with included hardware
    • Attach each plate to E-track, evenly spaced, on the opposite side of the wall or under the floor
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Quantity: 2 backing plates
  • Dimensions (each): 6" long x 6" wide x 1/8" thick
  • 4-Bolt mounting pattern: 4-1/2" x 4"
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Note: The included hardware lets you mount your E-track on surfaces up to 2" thick.

Product Dimensions

These backing plates provide more support for your E-track (sold separately) than only using wood or metal screws. Simply put, they allow the pulling force to be distributed over a greater area. This prevents your mower, ATV, or other heavy object from pulling your E-track away from its mounting surface and tearing up your trailer's wall or floor. They're perfect for trailers with thin walls or floors.

Pre-Drilled Holes

Product Dimensions

Pre-drilled holes accommodate the standard 4-bolt mounting pattern found on most horizontal or vertical E-tracks. There are also holes to accommodate D-rings, Snap-Locs, and odd-shaped tie-down anchors.

Simple, Bolt-On Installation

Installed

To install, drill pilot holes in your mounting surface as close as you can to each end of your E-track and directly in the middle so that the plates will be evenly spaced. Place your E-track where you're mounting it and insert the included bolts. On the opposite side of your wall or floor, place the plates over the bolts and secure them using the included washers and nylon lock nuts.

I was actually missing a few of these from my order and etrailer was immediately responsive and got the missing parts out to me right away. Will definitely be doing business here again.

This was a super handy device. I used it to secure my toolbox to the floor in the trailer.

Used these plates and the included hardware as a backer to the (Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit w/ Ratchet Straps and Wheel Chocks - 1,500 lbs - 4 Wheel Set) Item #EM98CV. They are too small to accommodate all 6 screw holes, but still worked out perfectly for me. I was able to get 4 of the 6 bolts through the plate by drilling 2 new holes before installation.

These E-tracks installed relatively easily on my new trailer using the available backing plates. Total install of 18' of track took less than 4 hours - a one man job except for the final tightening of the bolts included in the backing plate kit.

  • Using E-Track Backing Plate to Mount E-Track on the Floor of a cargo Van
Basically, the backing plate for the E-track, # e96RR, is like a giant washer. You will likely need several of them since it is 6-1/2 inches long by 6 inches wide. The fasteners you use will go through the E-Track, through the floor of the van, through the backing plate, and you would put the nuts for the fasteners on at the bottoms of the backing plates. So you are basically sandwiching the van floor between the E-track and the backing plate.

  • Should E-Track Be Attached to Trailer Frame for Installation
When installing an E-track, such as # E19148, it is always best to attach the track to the trailer's main structural components, such as the frame, when possible. The frame will provide the best support for the system. The E-Track Baking Plate # e96RR works well to help reinforce the E-track when the frame is not located in the area where you need to install your E-track. The installation process for the E-track can vary on a trailer to trailer and cargo to cargo basis. To be sure your...

  • How to Attach E-Track to Enclosed Trailer Wall
When attaching e-tracks like the part # E19148 typically people run the bolts through the track, then through the wall or floor they are attaching the track to, through the backing plate like part # e96RR, and then finally the nuts get threaded onto the bolts. Check out the install video I attached to see how this is done usually. If you wanted to route the bolts the opposite way that would be possible as well. A lot of the times each application varies slightly and calls for something...

  • Are Backing Plates Required To Install Erickson E-Track System
Backing plates, like the etrailer Backing Plate #e96RR, are always a good idea. Using bolts and backing plates will provide a more secure installation of the Erickson E-Track. You will want to use 4 bolts per backing plate. If you do decide to use screws, I would go with longer 1 inch screws. You will want to ensure that the screws go deep enough into the wood floor of the trailer. I have attached a review and installation video of the # E19148 E-Track system for you to have an ideal...

  • Attaching E-Track to Wooden Trailer Floor
Ideally, you'll want some of the hardware attaching the e-track to the trailer floor to also secure to the cross members as well as to the planks that make up the trailer floor. If that's not possible, I'd recommend using a backer plate like # e96RR every two feet or so and through bolting the e-track all the way through the trailer floor and through the backer plate. Long story short, as long as some of the fasteners are connecting to the trailer frame or cross-members or a backer plate,...

  • Installation Recommendations For E-Track Horizontal Track System In Trailer With 2x6 Floor
The Erickson Horizontal E-Track, part # E19148 has 1/4 inch diameter mounting holes spaced 2 inches apart. The screws you use should be at least long enough to go 3/4 inch into the wood you are mounting the track to. The more screws you use the more secure the track will be. Usually, wood screws are used and should have at lease 3/4 inches of material to fasten to, so it sounds like you have that covered. The best way to mount the track is to use the E-Track backing plate, part # e96RR....

  • Could U-Bolts Be Used to Install E-Track
We don't have U-bolts specifically designed for attaching the E-track, but we do carry a backing plate part # e96RR that does add some reinforcement for securing the tracks. 4 inch u-bolts could be used like you mentioned but you would need to source them elsewhere as we do not carry them. I recommend using screws, lock washers and nuts to make sure each connection is as solid as possible with the backing plate.

  • What Size Fasteners Should be Used to Install E-Track Inside of a Box Truck
On the E-Track # E19148 the mounting holes are 1/4 inch in diameter so you will need to have fasteners that have a head larger than that, are long enough to go through where you are mounting the track, and are appropriate for the material you are mounting the E-Track to. You will not have to remove the plywood so long as the E-Track is attached to a reinforced part of the wall (frames, support structures, etc.). I have included a link to a video review for you. • Erickson E-Track 5 Foot Installation on a Utility Trailer for Hauling a Golf Cart
To install the Erickson E-Track 5 foot section # E19148 on your trailer you can use rivets, screws, or weld it to the trailer. Since your trailer is aluminum, welding may not be an option since the E-Track is steel. I recommend using screws, or bolts and nuts, and backing plates like the etrailer # e96RR. Another option that some of our other customers have done, is to use additional E-Track on the bottom of their trailer, and liked the option of having additional tie down locations....

  • Vertical Etrack Mounting on a Thin Stud Recommendations
Installing the Etracks vertically in the way you described could work depending on how much weight the etracks would be supporting. I think the 2x6 idea would also work, but since you are concerned that would be too much weight you could split the difference and go with a lighter board like a piece of thicker plywood. You could attach the plywood to the stud and then the etrack to the plywood. Another option would be to get the E-Track Backing Plate # e96RR.

  • Will the E-Track Backing Plate # e96RR fit with Erickson Horizontal E-Track Part E19148 or E19135
The Erickson horizontal E-tracks # E19148 and E19135 will both have 2-inch mounting hole spacing and will work with the # e96RR backing plate. I went to our warehouse to measure the backing plate with the E-tracks and they will fit just fine. The width center eye to eye is 4-1/2 inches and the length center eye to eye is 4-inches. The holes in the backing plate are only 1/16 of an inch larger than 4-1/2 inches, and the minimal difference is not enough to prevent a screw from running through...

  • Longest E-Track Length Recommendation
The longest section of E-track that we offer is the part # E19148 that is 5 feet long. Since the track would need to be securely attached to the trailer it is installed there would be no incentive that we can see for welding the tracks together. Securing 5 foot sections at the ends and the center using brackets like # e96RR is ideal.

  • Can E-Track Be Installed Over Rubber Non-Ski Covering On Wood Floor in Trailer
You should really attach E-Track directly to the wood floor of the trailer by trimming the rubber covering in the area you want to mount the track. Also I recommend using several E-track backing plates, # e96RR, under the wood floor so that the force applied to the wood floor is spread out over a wider area. this will help prevent the E-track from pulling out when a load is pulling on it.

  • Installation Of E-TRack System In Trailer With Steel Cross Beams And 3/4 Inch Plywood
Since the E-Track Backing Plate, part # e96RR is 1/8 inch thick, I think using 3/4 inch long screws with the backing plate, 3/4 inch plywood, and the E-Track will work just fine. To really secure the E-Track to your trailer, I would recommend using the backing plate in any location that the track is not being mounted to the steel beam. This would keep the strength really consistent for the entire track system to hole the Harleys.

  • Installing E-Track to Metal Floor of Car Hauler
There isn't a set rule, but I'd recommend bolting the e-track into place. The distance between fasteners will depend on the nature and structure of the floor of your trailer. If the metal floor has a sturdy wood backing, I'd attach the e track about every 6 inches or so, making sure that some of the fasteners are going into the frame members of the trailer if possible. Using backing plates like part # e96RR would be a good idea, as well.

  • Is E-Track Backing Plate Needed if Attach E-Track to 2x8 Boards on a Trailer
Considering that the floor is made of wooden 2x8 boards on your trailer you would not have to use a backing plate but at the same time you can never be too safe. So it would still be a good idea to use backing plates such as # e96RR if you decided to.

  • What Hardware Should Be Used To Install Erickson Horizontal E-Track To 2X8 Trailer Deck Boards
The hardware you use to attach the # E19148 E-Track to your trailer deck is really up to you. You will want to make sure the hardware is long enough to go through the E-Track and the 2x8 and still have enough length to use washers with the nuts. I recommend stainless steel or zinc plated hardware so you don't have to worry about corrosion. The best way to attach it is to use hardware in every other hole on the track. The hardware should be available at any local hardware store. You may...

E-Track like # E19148 is zinc-coated steel and since the trailer is aluminum you would want to paint the bottom of the E-Track. Otherwise the dissimilar metals can cause corrosion to start. Be sure to also consider the fasteners used. Zinc-coated fasteners could be used but you will want to spray some paint in the areas there the fasteners are under the trailer.
