Weight Capacity Rating of Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor RR05

Question:

The picture on your web-site shows that they are stamped 5000 Lbs MBS max break strength. My question is, will the part purchased have that same rating stamped into the plate? Thanks.

The Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor # RR05 from our inventory that I checked was stamped with its 5000-lb break strength rating. The part's 1600-lb working load limit (WLL) rating is not indicated.

My contact at Brophy mentioned that break strength ratings SHOULD always marked on all cargo items like tie downs but it is always possible that this stamping process could have been erroneously omitted on a specific production run. Brophy imports these items (they are not made in-house) so there is always some chance that some stock without this marking could come through to us eventually.

Any tie down product like this should be selected based on its working load limit (WLL) which is always one-third of its break strength. This means that this item should not be used beyond a load of 1600-lbs, which is its one-third WLL rating. This tie down can be installed using backing plate # BP05 for maximum strength.
