Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal - RP30035 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. It is going to be a 10 bolt design. The base rails are going to provide necessary attachment points for your 5th wheel trailer hitch. The universal brackets are designed so that they fit most applications, and then the adapter brackets can be used to ease installation on certain vehicles. The kit's going to include both rails, four brackets, two larger ones with more mounting options, and then the two smaller ones, and it's going to include all the hardware that you need, all the instructions, and the fish wire that you just thread onto the end of the bolt, and you can bring it through the appropriate hole as needed. It makes it a little bit easier to get the bolts in the right place. Some compatible hitches are going to be Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky.

This does work with RBW Li'l Rocker Hitch Fifth Wheel Hitch. It will not fit the Reese Elite Series Signature Series or Valley UBS hitches. It's made from a nice solid steel construction with a nice black powder coated finish on it, so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. That's going to do it for today's review of part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. .

  • Will 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Legs Mount in the Same Rail Spacing as a Slider 5th Wheel Hitch
On the 5th wheel installation rails, the holes a slider unit fits into and the holes the Replacement Base Legs for Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # RP30727, fit into are the same distance apart. Or, in other words, once you have rails installed you will be able to drop in a set of legs or a slider and either one would fit. This method will tell you how far apart from each the rails will need to be, but it will not tell you where the rails will need to go in the bed. For that, you will...

  • Semi-Custom Base Rail and Installation Kit for a 2003 Ram 2500 and a Husky Slider 5th Wheel Hitch
We do have a semi-custom base rail installation kit for your 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 long bed, however, the Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail and Install Kit, # RP30035-023, that you referenced will not fit in your truck. This kit was designed for newer model Ram 1500 trucks. Instead, you will want to install the Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail and Install Kit, # RP30035-023, if your truck has overload springs, or # RP30035-186 if your truck does not have the overload springs. The base rails that are...

We have a couple of different options for you to install base rails in your 2012 Ram 2500 to use with your Reese sliding 5th wheel hitch. The difference between the rails is how they are installed on your Ram. The Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail and Installation Kit # RP30035-186 is the most generic of the options that I have for you. The semi-custom brackets will let your install your 5th wheel hitch if your Ram has the overload springs, but it is not compatible with the Reese Elite Series,...

  • Fifth Wheel Rails for Reese Rail Kit of 2008 Dodge Ram 2500
Good job finding the rail kit part number! That means that at one point it has the part # RP30035-186 installed so for replacement rails you'd need the # RP58058 which comes with new install hardware as well. Then for an air bag kit the Firestone kit part # F2701 is the best option that provides the highest quality air bags. Then for a 7-way kit to install in the bed of the truck you would want the part # HM42137.

  • Installation Instructions for Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Install Kit for 2004 Dodge Ram 2500
It depends on which installation kit you have. The 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 short bed could use # RP30035-023 (but will not work on trucks with overload springs), kit # RP50140-58, kit # RP30035-186, or kit # RP56011-53. I have included links to the installation instructions for all of these kits for you. The mounting hardware is not meant to be reused. After torqueing down the hardware it will stretch and so it cannot be re-used. For replacement hardware I would need to know which kit you...

The head unit of your 5th wheel hitch should sit above or slightly in front of the rear axle on your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 6-1/2' bed. The exact location though will be determined by where your base rails sit. We have a few different options of base rails with the difference being the difficulty of installation. For your 2017 F-150, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50087-58 which is a custom fit for your vehicle. Then...

  • Can A Fifth Wheel Trailer Be Used with a Ford F-150 Supercrew 5-1/2 Foot Bed
You may be able to use a fifth wheel, depending on the width of the trailer. Since the 5-1/2 foot bed is so short, in turning the fifth wheel trailer can end up making contact with the cab of the truck resulting in damage. The Sidewinder is essentially a hitch extender that will provide enough clearance for some fifth wheel trailers to be towed behind 5-1/2 bed trucks. You will need to take some measurements on the truck and the width of the fifth wheel trailer and calculate if you would...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch and In-Bed 7-Way for Long Bed GMC Truck with Rails
Hey Steve, it sounds like you have a set of fifth wheel rails in the bed of your truck already and are just looking for a hitch to fit into them as well as a 7-way kit that puts the 7-way up in the bed. Check out the attached picture to see what the rails you have SHOULD look like. For a hitch you could then use the Reese 16k part # RP30047 since you have a long bed and do not need additional clearance to make tight turns. Then for a 7-way you would want the part # 41157 to give you...

  • Can 2021 Ram with Ram Boxes Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer
There is definitely a way to tow a 5th wheel trailer with your 2021 Ram that is equipped with the RamBox, but it's going to require some new components both on the trailer and your truck. The issue with the Ram Boxes is that they make the bed rails really narrow on the truck, so much so that you can't make turns without a standard pin box or adapter like a Goose Box knocking into them. The only solution for this is replacing the pin box on the trailer with a pivoting option like the Reese...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for Use with Reese Revolution on Fifth Wheel Trailer
Since your trailer has a Reese Revolution pin box (which is the best way setup for a truck with as short of a bed as you have), you need a fixed hitch that attaches to a rail kit in four places. The Companion style hitch like you mentioned which attaches through the gooseneck ball shank cannot be used with the Revolution pin boxes. The Reese Select Plus # RP30081 that you referenced would be a great choice but you'd need a rail kit installed in the bed of your truck. If you can get me...

  • What 5th Wheel Hitch can Use with My Draw-Tite/Reese 5th Wheel Rails?
Hello Dave, My mother always told me to never assume, but since she isn’t here right now, I’m going to assume you mean the Draw-Tite/Reese 5th wheel rails. The great news is that Reese rails use the industry standard pattern, so there are a lot of hitches that will fit them. The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # RP30047 you were looking at is a solid choice. If you’d like to invest a little more, my personal favorite is the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual...

  • Comparing the B&W Patriot 16K, Curt A16, and Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitches
The B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3200, Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16120, and Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 all have fully articulating hitch heads so there won't be much of a difference in hitching/unhitching at an angle. I recommend the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16120 over the others for a few different reasons. The first of which is that the A16 has 1" thick, dual interlocking jaws which will do a phenomenal job of reducing...
