The interlocking two-piece jaw wraps completely around the king pin for full 360-degree contact. That means less rattle, less movement, and more security compared to slide-bar hitches. With Curt’s color-coded lock indicator, you can tell at a glance if the hitch is uncoupled (red), ready to couple (yellow), or locked for towing (green). You can see it right from the cab or beside the bed—no guesswork or extra checking. And once you unhook, the handle resets automatically so it’s ready for the next hookup.
The torsion head self-aligns as you back in, letting the king pin glide smoothly into place with help from the included plastic lube plate. It pivots to absorb road shock for a quieter, more controlled ride. When it’s time to store the hitch or clear your bed, pull a single pin to lift off the head—simple enough for one person to handle.
Fine-tune your trailer level with built-in height adjustment from 13" to 17". Those extra inches make it easier to dial in proper clearance between the trailer and bed rails. The design lets you get your tow height right from the start so your rig stays level and steady on the road.
This fifth-wheel hitch is compatible with rotating pin boxes, such as the Reese Sidewinder, Reese Revolution, and 5th Airborne Sidewinder, only when used with a wedge (sold separately).

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails. Now, these base rails will install in your truck bed. And they provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel hitch installation. Now, when these rails are used with the CURT's Custom Mounting Brackets, which we sell separate on a website, these rails will cut in half the time it takes to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch.
We mentioned the finish on this. I'm gonna zoom in and sort of show it. It's a carbide black finish, sort of like a matte black finish, so it matches the finish if you use it on the CURT Q5 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch. Now, these rails are universal, so they will work with the following fifth wheel hitches. They work with the CURT brand, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky.
This part here will include the two base rails. Now, we mentioned the mounting brackets, the custom mounting brackets, the hardware, and an installation kit is all sold separately. The length on these rails, if we put a tape measure on them from one end to the other, right at 43 inches long. But that should do it for the review on the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails.

If your truck does not have the OEM gooseneck package, then I would recommend getting the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs Custom Underbed Installation Kit for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches, part BWRVK3500-5W and Part BWGNRK1384 . This setup will give you a much more solid connection to your truck and should help eliminate the jarring you are talking about.
