Rear Suspension Support

Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause rear sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

Instructions were adequate. installer has to contribute to the outcome with bolt cleaning, match marking axle saddle and finding out "u" bolt torque value. I think the mount should be radiused where the "u" bolt contacts it as opposed to the square edge. Was unnecessary to jack up truck to get clearance to screw on spring, I put a wood between frame and leaf and raised the box 1/2" with a wedge. I got the ride height I was looking for, the blue springs are very close to offsetting trailer tounge weight allowing for a bit of takeup with my Andersen hitch. Barely noticeable change in unloaded rear end stiffness.

These Sumo springs are just what I needed for my 2012 Nissan Frontier. We (wife and I) have a A-Liner camper. We have recently replaced torsion axle with a more robust one and also went from C range to D range tires. We needed something to reduce the sag of tongue load. I was unsure about which model to choose but after speaking with friendly, knowledgeable Customer service rep I was assured the 610-40 was the proper option. Test drive went extremely well. Only minimal drop in hitch and no adverse change in ride. Very pleased! Simple to install.

Couldn’t decide between the blue and yellow springs, bought both and switch them out when I need to haul my 5500lb trailer. I have a friend with the same truck (tundra) and he got airbags. The ride in his truck is terrible when not loaded down. The yellow springs are great for towing and the blue give you a better ride, no sag when loaded down.

2013 Toyota Tacoma

I added these to my Tacoma. With the GFC camper, Solar panels, Marine battery and refrigerator in the back of the truck and the weight of the trailer tongue I gained over 2 inches of height in the back after adding the sumo springs. The body roll is much less now as well. The only dissappointment is not with etrailer or the Sumo Springs, it is with UPS. Initially they scheduled the delivery on Wednesday then changed it to Thursday. Thursday came in went and still didnt have it. Finally arrived on Friday. Thanks for the delay UPS.

Ordering from etrailer was easy and efficient. Install of the Sumo spring helpers was easy and even though I have not pulled my trailer yet the ride without the trailer has been great. I am sure once I hook up to my trailer everything will be good.

2016 Toyota Tacoma

Love these things.Put them on a 2007 Tacoma 4X4.Before my truck would squat bad in rear when loaded with sack crete, lumber or whatever and when I had my 16 foot trailer attached. Not anymore! The ride is a little more stiff but it don’t bother me any knowing I can load my truck down without any squatting..I mean it will squat some when loaded with 10 bags of 80lb sack crete but NOTHING like it did before

These Springs helped me up my payload on my Toyota tundra a lot.. I haul a goose neck trailer He's with my backhoe. It hardly squats at all... The ride is much like a 3/4 ton. It was a very good investment

2002 Toyota Tundra

I was just looking for some extra support not a stiff ride. No stiff ride and no lift affect. But with the 500lbs of tongue weight the 02 tundra rides nice. Empty ride quality barely sacrificed our in my opinion. If longevity holds up they are great. I will update if they don’t hold hold up.

Really nice product. Ordered two sets, one for my 2011 Titan and for my Dad's 09 Titan. Helps maintain ride height when towing a trailer and the ride is still like factory, not too stiff.

Install was easy, air impact driver helped for sure. Firmer ride empty than expected, but not overly so. From watching videos and reading adds did not expect to notice difference unloaded. Loctite was dried up in tube, was in process of install when I realized that. The true test will come when loaded or RV trailed is being towed. 2005 toyota tacoma trd

Great product ! Does all it claims and more than i expected. I leave my 5th wheel hitch mounted yr. round and haul bins of sand when I plow in the winter, so it's helping all the time. I can see and feel a difference in hauling our 30 ftr. Doesn't change the ride at all like just about anything else you'd need to do to get the help these give you. Easy install too!

Still goin strong. I’ve had numerous campers even a Tundra owner inquire about what I’ve done to level my truck for the load. It totally out does more springs! When and if they fatigue, I’ll buy em again.

My Nissan frontier would ride on the bump blocks when loaded so I installed these sumo springs and I have been very happy. They have made my truck much more useful to me even when I am using it off road on our farm or pulling a trailer. I would recommend these to anyone who needs a little more support in the rear springs for heavy loads. The installation was very easy as my Nissan did not even require me to jack up the vehicle, I simply loosened the leaf spring U-bolts and installed the new Sumos. then I retorqued to the specified value on the U-bolts and that was it was very easy on my truck. Also the price was very reasonable for the value received, I will definitely shop at etrailer again.

These overload bumps or jounce bumps or whatever you want to call them are excellent. Sumo made it easy to determine which version (type and size) i needed for my application. these have worked great at keeping the back end of my Tundra off the old bump stops when using for loads and towing. Would definitely recommend and buy again. One note would be that you do hit them when unloaded and running over medium bumps so the unloaded ride is a bit harsher but for the additional load stability it totally worth it.

2008 Toyota Tacoma

Definitely recommend these helper springs. Have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma and they have a recall on the rear springs. Waiting on appointment now. The truck always had light rear springs. Could feel the springs hitting the stops with just hitting a small bump. I also tow a travel trailer so I needed help. I installed air-lift bags and after 2 bag leaks I had enough. Shop Etrailer where I buy all my towing needs. Bought sumo springs and what a difference with handling and towing. No body roll and no spring bumps. Worth every penny and no worries. Buy sumo and buy them from Etrailer.

2013 Toyota Tundra

Installed the SumoSprings foam helpers on rear of 2013 Tundra to smooth out the bumps in the interstates when pulling our 7600 lb travel trailer. Transaction and shipping from E-trailer was seamless as always. Installation took maybe 30 minutes and I didn't even remove the wheels. Unloaded and solo, there is maybe 1/8" clearance between the frame and the top of the pads so they engage very quickly when load is added. When I add my 950 lbs of tongue weight, the rear sag of the truck is reduced from 3.5 inches to 2.75 inches. This reduced sag required a re-adjustment of my Equal-izer WD hitch which was by far the most time consuming work. With adjustments made, the ride is noticeably better on the interstate. The loaded ride is a little more firm but the hard bounces generated from my frame hitting the stock spring jounces is eliminated. Unloaded I can't really tell any difference in ride. I researched air bags and the other non-air-bag spring helpers, but I believe this product was the best addition for the Tundra. Tundra's do not have a lot of cargo capacity anyway, and Sumo told me they design this particular product for the Tundra specifically to create a balance between reasonable cargo loading and stiffness/ride quality. They said that is why this product looks different for different applications - they design each piece for the specific truck and load/spring characteristics.

2016 Toyota Tacoma

My Sumo Springs Supersprings are working out Great on my 2016 Tacoma. At first they felt a little stiff, but I soon got used to the way the truck rides and I'm very happy. Last Spring I needed to get some paving bricks for a small project in the garden and I found an ad for "About 100 Bricks" on Craigslist not too far from home. By the time I got the load of bricks in the truck, the actual number was closer to 300. Boy, was I glad that I had the Sumo Springs installed on the truck! I did take it easy on the ride home, but the Supersprings did the trick. I regularly use my truck to carry equipment for my small business and while it not as heavy as 300 bricks, my truck rides nice a level and I don't bottom out when there's a pot hole or a bump in the road. My thanks to Sumo Springs and Etrailer.

2014 Toyota Tacoma

So far, so good. Installation on my 2014 Tacoma went very well. The truck now sits about 3/4" higher in back and feels a little firmer in the ride. I plan to hook up my RV trailer this week. It looks like these will work just fine to eliminate the "tail sag" that so many Tacoma owners report.

Ask the Experts about this SuperSprings Intl Vehicle Suspension

  • Can the SuperSprings and SumoSprings Be Used Together On a 2007 Toyota Tundra
I do have an option for you but the SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer part # SSA4 and SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-610-40 cannot be used together on your 2007 Toyota Tundra as the SuperSprings block the u-bolts needed to attach the SumoSprings. If you were to remove the SuperSprings part # SSA4 and then install the SumoSprings part # SSR-610-40 you would not be gaining any support as they are only rated for 1,000 lbs and the SuperSprings are rated for 1,100...

I think you're on the right track here, considering that you're not currently experiencing any adverse conditions when towing. Because of the tongue weight of the trailer and the additional weight of the ATV, I do recommend going with the Sumo Springs # SSR-610-47 over the # SSR-610-40 since they're going to provide you with the needed support when you've got the ATV in.
