Question:

I have a 2026 Ram 2500 with the six foot 4 in bed i also have ram boxes I am looking to find out what my options are for a fifth wheel hitch in the bed of the truck I am planning on using a Sidewinder pin box what would be the best recommended hitch in that scenario

Thanks for the information Howard and congrats on the new truck. Depending on whether or not your 2026 Ram 2500 has the factory puck system, I have two recommendations for you.

If your truck came with the factory puck system, I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch item # BWRVK3600. The Companion is one of the best 5th wheel hitches on the market. The base of it will securely attach directly to the four pucks built into your bed. It has a 25,000 lbs capacity and is compatible with Sidewinder pin boxes. The wedge included with the Sidewinder will work with the Companion hitch head.

If your Ram 2500 does not have the factory puck system, you'll need to install a set of 5th wheel rails as well. I recommend the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram item # C86BV. This kit comes with the Curt A25 hitch, along with custom fit 5th wheel brackets, and the in bed rails. The A25 has a 25,000 lbs capacity and is also compatible with Sidewinder pin boxes. The 5th wheel brackets install in predrilled holes in your Ram's frame with the included hardware.

You will also need the Sidewinder Wedge for Curt A Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches item # C27NR if you decide to go with the Curt A25 item # C86BV setup.

What 5th wheel trailer are you going to be pulling? Feel free to answer this and throw in any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.

Howard, like jerred mentioned if you have the puck system installed from the factory... without a doubt you'd love the B & W hitch. I've had it for a couple years now and have zero regrets buying it. That being said Some fifth wheels have more living area above the truck so you need too make sure you can turn 90 with the stationary hitch style so the camper won't hit the cab of the truck. That can be an issue with 6 ft boxes and why alot of people choose the 8 ft box with bigger fifth wheels. My older truck came within 2 inches of the cab when making a sharp turn. Good luck

Howard, I've had the B&W for a little over a year now. My pinbox is a sidewinder. My truck is a 2016 Ram with the short box. I have used the sidewinder for years because it allows you to make 90 degree turns with the short box. The B&W is really smooth and well made. Make sure that your trailer will ride level with the adjustments that can be made on the sidewinder and the B&W. The height adjustments between the B&W and the Sidewinder were just enough for my 2019 Montana to be acceptable.

Howard - I have a 2025 RAM 3500 long bed, dually. I ordered the truck with every towing option offered, including the auto-leveling suspension. She also came with the puck system that makes it so easy to install/remove the B&W hitch. I love the hitch!! I love the fact that its all manual, no spring loaded locks that can fail or give you a false sense of security. When you close that handle, and lock it with the pin, it cant come undone!! I pull a 42', 20,000lb Brinkley, and at 68 MPH, I forget I'm pulling a trailer! I familiar the Sidewinder pin box, they seem to work well, but as mentioned by Scott, make sure you can turn 90 degrees. Best of Luck!!
