How to Select Hitch Height Setting for Curt A25 Fifth Wheel Hitch

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 04/08/2025

Question:

I have a Curt A25 fifth wheel and the hitch is mounted into the legs at the top set of holes of 4 choices. How do you know what set of holes to use for your set up? I replaced a Curt A20 and it was set up in the middle of 3 sets of holes.

Hey Mark, it really comes down to what's going to allow your trailer to sit level with at least 4-6 inches of bed rail to trailer overhang clearance. Since the A20 and the A25 are very similar I would assume you'd want to use the same set of mounting holes on the A25 as the old hitch as long as the trailer was being towed level. But you should verify after that point if your trailer is able to be towed level.

Hey Mark, how did things turn out after checking the height on your Curt A25 hitch? Were you able to get your trailer sitting level with enough bed rail clearance? Your results could really help others setting up a similar fifth wheel.
