Recommended 5th Wheel and Rails for a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Dually

Updated 07/18/2024 | Published 07/12/2024

Question:

Im trying to find a hitch and rail system to fit my 2007 chevy silverado 3500hd 6.6l 8ft bed dually. Going to use this for towing a toy hauler. Would like to get a 25k hitch that is compatible with my truck. Would like a curt. No BMW to expensive and heavy. Mounting hardware. Is it best not to drill the frame? Had a 2500 4x4 2016 ram with a 16k. Need to get a toy hauler to haul a golf cart and 2 electric wheelchairs. Walking long distance bad. 44 or 45 ft 5th wheel, garage will have to be 13 to 14 ft. Need hitch to fit my truck and weight rating. Units on list are 20 to 21k. Would appreciate your help. Thanks Henry

Henry, it sounds like you're looking for something like the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16180 with the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC # C16418-204.

This hitch has a 25k capacity, is made by Curt, and will work great with your toy hauler.

Ideally I'd say you do no drilling to install the rails but for what you're looking for the best we can do is the semi-custom install kit which will require less drilling than a universal hitch but still some drilling. This kit also comes with the mounting hardware so you'll have everything you need.

That sounds great boss, did some more research and found out I need a 20k hitch with same setup. Any way you can send me the # on it. Another? If your towing a 5th wheel is it going to hurt your truck if you go over your towing capacity by 700lbs that's a ? I trying to find the convenual tow weight?

@Henry Sure Henry, you can use the same rail kit mentioned above and the 20K # C16140 hitch instead. This is the same hitch as # C16180 but in a 20K capacity. Also for going over your towing capacity is never recommended, so in good conscience I can't green light that.
