Today we're going to review part number C16427. This is the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit for the Dodge Ram truck. This is a custom fit part number, it is designed to fit the Dodge Ram 2500 without the factory prep package starting in 2014. At any time it is a custom fit part number. What I do like to recommend is to go to our website and put in .. Go to our fit guide and put in your year and model vehicle and it will tell you exactly if this part number will work for your application. This part number includes the brackets, the spacers, and some mounting hardware.
This bracket kit will mount beneath your truck bed, provides attachment points for your fifth wheel rails. The fifth wheel rails are sold separately, it does require the Curt Base Rails either part number C16104 or C16204. Those are listed on this product page as related products. Now these brackets will provide a custom fit by mounting to existing holes in your vehicle's frame and that will minimize the amount of drilling that's required and it will also cut the installation time in half when compared with the universal bracket kits. It does include all the necessary hardware and again, this finish on the brackets are a nice black powder coat finish to help resist corrosion, and again, it comes with the four brackets shown here to the spacers and all the mounting hardware that's needed to install in your vehicle. Need better instructions for front driver bracket, other then that all else was pretty good
The hitch is a great product with excellent documentation of installation. Unfortunately, the hardware for the installation of the rails was not included in the shipping. I contacted the company and they sent the hardware with overnight shipping and I received it the next morning. I appreciate the excellent customer service. I was able to install the hitch and pick up my trailer as scheduled.
This bracket kit was exactly what we needed for my husband to install the rails for our 5th wheel trailer hitch. Make sure to read/study the instructions carefully. You will need several 3/8 drive extensions for your socket set to reach the bolts when tightening them.
This kit fit my 2014 Ram 2500 4x4 reg cab long bed perfectly.
After watching the installation video the instructions were unnecessary so I can't say how easy they were to follow, however the diagram was definitely handy. Also, you're definitely going to want to clean the threads in the frame prior to installation.

The Curt people make a great quality product, BUT this is the second time I have attempted to install their fifth wheel kits and the instructions are terrible. The diagrams are almost impossible to see clearly and this makes the installation twice as hard. Seems like Curt could spend a five cents more, make a little more effort so their instructions would be more clear.
the 2014 dodge 2500 adapter kit for a fifth wheel hitch was perfect. it went right in. the parts where all there and had instructions to help put in it in. the place I went to have it installed wanted 300 dollars for labor. I put it in in about 3 hours. you have to remove the spare tire and the shield around it for the rear brackets and the driver side front I had to move three wires out of the way. once you have the brackets in place tighten them up. Then you can drill the holes from the bottom with a pilot drill and move inside of the bed and drill the bolt holes from the top side. do not tighten bolts up until you put your hitch into the rails in order to make sure it lines up. I did have a problem with the long bolt on the front side of the right rear bracket, so I put it in from the bottom because it was hard to get the nut on from under the bed. with hitch in place tighten all bolts that hold your rails in place. put spare tire shield back in place and remount your spare tire and you are done. the only thing I can think of that needs improvement is the brackets need to be marked with right front driver side, passenger side front, and so on.
We bought a Curt slider hitch 16516 and base rails with bracket kit. Everything was very well constructed. We were very impressed with the product. We installed everything ourselves after watching the video. We highly recommend watching the video. Everything went together without any problems. Very solid hitch.
The Curt Custom 5th wheel bracket works well for the 2014 dodge ram 2500. The instructions need to simplified. A photocopy of the installations parts weren't clear , neither were the steps. Must use your own mechanical ability to do the install. All the parts were perfect once you figure it out. Time of install 3 hrs. The product was delivered very fast.
Great website. Had no problems ordering what I needed. Will be using etrailer again as a first time Rv owner.

Its been great. Not problems at all!!
This kit fit for the most part, instructions were not very detailed in fact it was mostly diagrams and a few pics. The kit fit up well on the drives side but the passenger side could have been better, it worked but had to get creative with the Hex head through bolt, to make it work. I believe this kit was made for the 2020 model Ram , there is a slight difference with the 2021 .
Loved how easy it was to install. Saved myself several hundred dollars using this kit and installing it myself

Replacement bolt sent was the wrong bolt. I am as sent a short 12 mm bolt. I requested the longer bolt. I was frustrated and just ordered the proper bolt from a different vendor

Exactly what I needed to install my fifth wheel hitch.
Product was shipped and recieved in a timely manner. All parts were there. Directions were good. Approximate install time by DIY a bit misleading however I was successful and am pleased with the outcome. There are youtube videos showing install which were helpful. Overall it appears to be a quality product and substantial enough to pull a small house!

Is working great I liked it because I didnt have to buy a the $400 prep kit just bolted it to the frame and drilled bed and put down rails and ready to use .
Etrailer was great. Product got here on time and all there. Fit as promised. Whole kit but for one bolt went in, in about 60 min.'s
Not sure that it is my fault buying a Dodge,or the inability of Reese to build a unit that fits better, but the back rail front bolt on the passenger side is a bear to put in. The suspension is right up against the bottom of the bed, and the bed re-enforcing rail. You bolt the hitch to the bed metal, not great, real thin, using a tube as a spacer between the bottom of the box and the bottom of the frame rail. The directions say feed in from the side and drop the bolt thru. All most impossible to do. I used a piece of tie wire thru the tube to draw it up, and then a 1/2 x 24 drift to force the tube upright inside the framerail. cut off the wire, drop in the bolt (per recommendations from etrailer, a grade 8 4 1/2 x 1/2 bolt, hex head) and have the wife finger tighten the bolt on top. Impact from there all is good and done. That bolt took about another hour.
