The C16426 bracket kit you referenced is not the correct kit for a 2018 Ram 2500 with a short bed; instead, what you need is the Curt Custom 5th Wheel Bracket Kit for Ram Truck # C16427.
You did not specify the exact rails you had so please note that this bracket kit requires Curt Rails # C16104 or # C16204.
