Front Mount Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on this 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Heavy Duty we are going to be installing front mount hitch part number 31109 from Curt. We are here looking at the passenger side frame rail. And you can see from the bottom we have got an existing bolt, an existing access hole, and then an existing regular sized hole as well. We are going to be fishing through the carried bolt block through this hole. We are going to pull it down into position using the fish wire that is provided with the installation kit. We are also going to be using this larger bolt here on the side of the frame. We are going to be removing it and replacing it with the new one that is provided in the installation kit. That is going to provide our vertical attachment point for the trailer hitch.

Chevrolet Silverado Front Hitch Questions and Answers

  • Cargo Carrier for Front Mounted Receiver on 2005 Silverado to Carry Chest Freezer Full of Elk
  • What are the dimensions of the freezer you're asking about? The standard railed carrier, like the Pro Series # 63153 measures 24x60. For something a bit narrow and longer at 47x 20-1/2, take a look at the MaxxTow # MT70108. Both carriers have a 500 lb capacity, but keep in mind that the weight of the carrier plays into the tongue weight as well. The carrier, the freezer and the meat in the freezer couldn't weigh more than 500 lbs. You should also consider that carrying a freezer...

First make sure the truck and trailer are on level ground when taking the measurements. You will measure from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the hitch on your 2012 Chevy Silverado. Next measure from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler with the trailer level and on level...

  • Is Fascia Trimming Required for Front Mount Hitch Installation on the 2005 Chevy 3500
  • The directions state that Fascia trimming is optional on 2500 H.D./ 3500 models. This means that when the front mount hitch, item # 31108, is installed the bottom of the receiver tube will contact the air dam under the front bumper of your 2005 Chevrolet 3500 pickup. This contact over time will wear on the air dam, so you may decide to trim it a bit before installation of the hitch. Otherwise the hitch install is a direct bolt on installation with no drilling required. My recommendation...
