I installed this on my 2015 Honda Accord for the purpose of pulling my small aluminum fishing boat and trailer. Works great!

by:

Drawbar looks great and will be using in next two days. Thanks!

by:

Wonderful product. I had the hitch installed in 10 minutes. The wiring was a little more tricky because it required running a power wire all the way to the battery. I towed my trailer from Florida to Tennessee and back. Etrailer is still wonderful to deal with as they always have been in the past. My hitch came in a couple of days. I wouldn't think of ordering from any one else.

by:

Solid main insert post and perfect height for the vehicle it went on.

Simple. Does the job.

Simple. Reliable. Does the job.

by:

It has performed well for several thousand miles of towing. I would like to see the tolerance between the bar and the hitch a little tighter. When towing you can hear the movement of the drawbar inside the receiver.

by:

i placed an order through etrailer and received the first shipment on time as expected, though after trying to install the receiver I realized that it was for the 4 door version of my car instead of the coupe. I called them instantly and within 5 minutes of talking to their customer service i had a new receiver on the way to my door step. The customer service here is amazing and they do their best to take care of their customers. The new part was received and fit just as intended. it is high quality and looks amazing!!!! I would recommend them for any and all trailer needs.

I ordered a receiver for a 2014 Subaru Impreza, and a drawbar and hitch cover. The package arrived a bit beat up, but nothing was missing or damaged. I intend to use the receiver for a bicycle mount and the drawbar (with an eyebolt) as a rear tie-down for kayaks and probably won't really tow anything.
The online video on how to thread the carriage bolts and anti-spin washers was excellent as were the printed instructions. The fish wire (two different ones) was included and was 'threaded' or coiled to hold the threads of each bolt quite firmly. The stiffness of the wire was perfect.
I used a 'step drill' to enlarge the two front holes in the frame (these new frames aren't made with a real heavy gauge metal, btw) The step drill made a near-perfect round hole vs a Dremel type device that others have used, but either would be fine. Wear goggles to protect your eyes from flying metal shards, please, but don't be intimidated by the project! You will most likely need a helper; my wife threaded the nuts on the bolts while I held up the roughly 30 pound hitch. I also gooped the top of the hitch with black silicone caulk to waterproof the connection. I had no need for the spacers and the receiver was about a half inch from the bottom of the bumper and flush -to -slightly- in from the back of the car.
Etrailer does offer tracking now, so earlier criticisms--if valid then--have been acted upon. Delivery to Cleveland area from Mo. was two to three days. I just wish they offered a device for the front area of the vehicle for tie-down lines for the kayaks (hint, hint, but I have a plan for that).
Secure and satisfied.

We do have some tie downs for the front. Check out part # TH529 or part # TH530 from Thule. One set is bolt-on, the other set, you just close the hood on.

The product came as the order indicated it would be.

However, since the hitch is my son's and he will use it on an ATV trailer connection, it has not been tried out yet. I think it will be the solution that he has been looking for. The ATV and trailer are at the son's cabin (about 1.5 hr. drive) and will be another week or 10 days before we test out if the hitch will work. I will send feedback after that.

The hitch and ball mount have worked out great for me no issues.

by:

It's a ball mount designed to fit Curt hitch 12284 - Subaru Crosstrek. Rise and extension with that hitch are correct. Only complaint are the paint chips and scratches when it arrived.

by:

Couldn't tow with out this, though I am using it the opposite way of the photo. I would love to get one that has double or even triple the "raise" I get from this one, I still have to jack up the car with a hydraulic floor jack I carry with me, otherwise the trailer could not be put on the car.

Thank you for your review. The ball mount that fits a one and a quarter inch hitch with the most rise available is part BR39FR with a five and a half inch rise. The Brophy ball mount is the same length as your current ball mount at seven and a quarter inches long. If you are looking for a ball mount that is less expensive, I recommend part C45014 which has a five inch rise and is 9 and five eighths inches long.

by:

Just installed this, along with the receiver, ball and wiring harness. I'm new to trailering, but the website has a lot of helpful support and I had no difficulties. Good solid feel to this.

Still going strong. Great products and absolutely no complaints

by:

This product was exactly as advertised! I have used it to pull a small trailer full of rafting gear, boat, frame, etc and pulled it several thousand miles from the Pacific NW to the Grand Canyon and back. I also use it to pull my small sailboat. Very durable!

No problems at all. Works as advertised!

by:

I spent around $175 for a what I thought to be a complete hitch installation and apparently the lousy $2.00 receiver pin was too much cost for etrailer to include. So now I get the pleasure to travel 25 miles to buy that pin locally. Amazon looks better every day.

Our description states that the hitch pin and clip or locking hitch pin is sold separately. This is to allow our customers to choose the approiate lock that they may need, or mayalready have for their accessories. If you would like the standard hitch pin that would be used for this item is a F-4. Or a locking version as part C23517.

This got installed on my wife's Forester and we have used it several times for pulling a utility trailer and also for pulling our dock and raft at our camp. Very happy with the options it offers for moving more than fits in the car. Since the Forester had the dual exhaust, i did cheat and have my mechanic do the install. He did it within the hour that is advertised, but did say it would have been a bit of a challenge working at ground level. I think I still ended up paying less in total than going to a hitch installer

overall, very happy with the hitch, wiring harness, and drawbar. It's especially nice to have the harness tucked away, as it doesn't get used that often.

by:

etrailer is smart. They ask for a review a year later and not 10 minutes after you buy the product. That gives you a chance to install it and use it. This receiver has done as I expected. It was an easy install and works well. The only downside to date was me. I left the hitch attached to the car/receiver and a guy walked around my car, kind of close to it and tripped over the ball mount/draw bar. Ouch!!
Love etrailer and my hitch assembly.

by:

Love it. Works great and just the right height for my 06 cobalt. No surprise its a awesome product like normal

Gentlemen & ladies,
I would like to
take a minute to let you know my thoughts on your service and your product. First, after looking at many, many websites I settled on yours as it offered SO much MORE than many of the others. In addition to the plethora of items, there were well written instructions with proper diagrams and illustrations in a pdf format for all the items offered.

Also included on their website were well produced instructional videos that even our cat could understand!! ;-) Shipping / delivery was free(as is for all orders over $99.00) and prompt! After receiving the items I had ordered (the Curt Trailer hitch receiver, cat.# C11265, Curt Class II drawbar, cat.#C45521, Curt T-connector wiring harness, cat.#55542 and the hitch ball, cat.#19258; I was able to quickly gather up the tools needed for installation as this information is thoughtfully included as well.

Installation was a breeze!! I have towed one trailer with this so far and plan on safely towing many more in the future. In addition to the ability to tow, the receiver I purchased will accommodate a bike rack and a cargo carrier, both made by the same company!!
I HIGHLY recommend etrailer.com for all your vehicle needs and more!!

Great job etrailer.com!!!!!

I purchased both the trailer hitch for my 2007 Honda Element and the wiring harness. The products came shipped to me on time and packaged very well. Installation of the hitch was extremely easy. Only thing I would recommend is to use a drill bit file instead of a drill to enlarge the hole to mount the hitch because it doesn't really need to be enlarged that much more. The wiring harness was also extremely easy to install. I suggest using the videos on YouTube because those helped to make things a little clearer. I am extremely satisfied with the products and value that I received from this company. I would recommend it highly.

by:

I am thrilled with the trailer ball & hitch I purchased from you one year ago for my Toyota Camry. I have used the hitch numerous times to rent U-Haul trailers rather than trucks (which you have a mileage fee on) and saved more than triple the cost of my purchase.

As the mom to a college aged daughter, I was the one to help her & her friends move out of the dorms, into their first shared apartment & delivered the gently used furniture we found online to furnish their first digs.

Most recently I helped them move to a furnished shared flat and was able to haul their furniture to both a consignment store & a donation center so that their finds can live on and make other families happy.

The products I purchased from etrailer.com still looks and perform like new. Thank you, Erica, for your professional advice and support. I highly recommend etrailer.com to everyone I meet!

Sincerely,
A grateful Mom

by:

I received what was ordered but it seems like it will be too low for a trailer. I called the company, and the lady was very professional. She verified that I had the correct part and sent info to me on measuring rise & drop for the hitch. I haven't purchased a trailer yet so I will re-order if needed.

by:

Overall everything has worked as it should. My only complaint would be that I have pretty much always had some wobble/looseness of the drawbar in the receiver. It is actually audible when driving.

I was in the process of buying, and selling a house when I installed the trailer hitch, so the issue was overlooked due to the complexity of the move. I guess I learned to live with it, and hope it doesn't ever cause a failure.

by:

Hitch arrived in a timely fashion. Installation was a breeze and the fit and finish were perfect. Wiring harness hooked up perfectly. etrailer made the whole process simple. I just ordered another hitch and harness for our new car.

  • How to Pick Out a Ball Mount for a 2014 Subaru Forester to Tow Trailer Level
When picking out a ball mount for a vehicle like your 2014 Subaru Forester you want to go with the ball mount that will allow the trailer to be towed as level as possible. To do this you will need to measure from the top of the hitch opening to the ground and then with the trailer as level as possible measure from the bottom of the coupler to the ground. The difference between these two measurements is the amount of rise/drop you will need. I attached a help article that covers how to...
