Hey guys, Zach here at trailer.com. And today, I'm going to be showing you the Yakima HoldUp hitch hardware kit. Now, this is a great replacement if you've lost or damaged any of the hardware for the hitch mounting portion of this bike rack. So we lost our pin here in the shop and while we we're trying to find the one that worked, we stripped out the anti-rattle threads on the inside of this shank. So I'm going to walk you through how to just do the whole replacement.And before we get started, I'm going to show you everything that comes included with this. So it's going to come with a new anti-rattle bolt, a clip, a lock washer, and a new nut that's going to go on the inside of this piece here, that slides down in the shank.
And that's what our bolt we'll thread into. And the only tool I'm going to need today is just a small flat-head screwdriver. And if we come in close, I'll show you how to get this old one out.On each side of the shank, there's going to be these small holes. And essentially what we're doing is we're going to push this piece in, and we're just going to pry it until we can get it up out of those holes. All right, I've got it loose.
Just keep prying it up. Let's see, I broke that one coming up, but this was already stripped out anyway. So next, we can take our nut and this plastic housing here, and I'm going to drop it in, put it in place. And then I'm just going to put it down in there, and then we'll squeeze this top right here so it gets inside the shank, and it's pretty tight. That way it holds itself in place.
Might take a little bit of pressure there. There we go. And then that's just going to lock in place and then we can take our bolt, put that lock washer on there, it's just going to thread right in.And then we can just secure it with that clip on the other side. But also, since this bike rack comes with a lock, that's going to work out just fine. So as you can see, I got this bike rack up and running in just a matter of minutes, it's going to save you a ton of money, so you don't have to buy a whole new bike rack.
And we did this on a two-inch version, but we also have the inch and a quarter version of the anti-rattle bolt replacement, if you need that.But overall, this was really quick and easy to get this back to normal. All I needed was a screwdriver. If you need just the nut or the plastic housing that goes on the inside of the shank, we sell that by itself. But I think just getting the whole kit is a good idea, so you at least have a spare bolt just in case the original comes up missing.Yakima makes a lot of different replacement parts for this bike rack. We offer stuff like the straps, and cradles, and cable locks. So if you have any kind of issues with it, we're here to help you out. Yakima builds these with the intention of you holding onto them for a long time. So if you have any questions on getting your bike rack fixed, just let us know. Extremely impressed. I needed Yakima bike holder parts and Yakima charges $15-$20 for shipping. No other trailer company around the country carries Yakima parts, as they told me that Yakima does not supply them with extra parts. However, E trailer had everything I needed for a reasonable price and the shipping Was far cheaper than Yakima.
The hitch plug and nut fits my hitch ball mount perfectly after drilling two small holes for plug pins to snap on. Now I can use the Yakima hitch bolt and lock on both Yakima Holdup rack and trailer hitch ball mount with security and without rattle. Great product with multipurpose.

Its been a year and its still strong and perfect performance.

This works perfectly for my Yakima HoldUp 2 with 2” receiver. Very fast shipping and took less than 5 minutes to remove the previous bolt that was tightened too tight by the previous owner and replace this entire replacement hitch hardware. 1) the etrailer product information, in particular the how-to video and customer comments, greatly helped me select this part as a replacement for my very old out-of-production hitch rack.
2) After USPS messed up the delivery, etrailer customer service was awesome and quickly resent the part in time for a planned roadtrip with the old rack.
This replacement part was a perfect fit to our worn out one, and easy to install. It's actually an upgrade to the Yakima standard bolt as the bike rack is tighter on the truck hitch and doesn't bob around as much as before. I like to really tighten the bolt down to prevent theft of the bike rack since we've found the cotter pin on the ground a few times when returning to the truck and after a year no unusual wear and tear on this replacement part.

I dont see much wear on this part even after another season of using it nearly every weekend. Easy on, easy off with the proper tools that is.

Awesome ans faster than expected.
This brought my old Yakima hitch style bike rack back to life. My rack was made prior to the newer style plastic block that holds the nut in place. I didn't want to drill the rack, so I reused the old plastic block that press fits in. The new nut is the same size and fits in the old block. Thank you to Brenden at etrailer for all your help getting these ordered for me.

These Yakima replacement parts worked perfectly in the bike rack .when I bought the used bike rack these items were missing so I started my search on the web.. For some reason the bolt that came with my Yakima hold up two rack wouldn't thread properly, so ended up stripping that and the retainer piece. The replacement from etrailer worked perfectly first try. Shipping time ended up being longer than expected, but not horrible.
