Today, we're going to take a look at the replacement rubber chain straps for Yakima bike racks with anti-sway cradles. This comes as a quantity of two, so we'll get our brand new Yakima straps, as you see, they're going to be made of a nice, flexible sort of stretchy rubber. It doesn't have a very easy stretch, it's going to be pretty durable, so these are going to last a long time. If you happen to loose these, these are going to be a good replacement for you. This is a direct replacement from Yakima. And these are going to work for the BigHorn models, part numbers 8002404 and also 8002405.They're going to stretch to secure your bike down to the cradle and they'll also work for the Yakima SwingDaddy, the FlipSide, DoubleDown, DoubleDown Ace, Highlight, QuickBack, KingJoe, SpareTime, SpareJoe or SuperJoe and those newer model BigHorn bike racks.These have lifetime warranty from Yakima.
And I'll give you a few measurements on these. So you see, it does kind of bend up right now, but that's just because it comes folded up in the box, so it might be a little bent at first. It doesn't affect the use at all, though. Going from tip to tip, it's going to be nine inches long. The handle at the back, that kind of little bowed out area, that is going to be 1 3/8 of an inch wide.
The outer dimension of the holes for each of those connection points, that's going to be about 1 1/8. Out inner diameter on that hole spacing itself, that's going to be about 1/2 an inch. And the spacing between the center of the holes is going to be about 1 1/16.And that should do it for our look at the replacement rubber chain straps for Yakima bike racks with anti-sway cradles.

These fit my spare tire mount Rhode Gear 3 bike rack. My old rubber straps wore out and these work great! Will definately buy again if I need them.
I actually bought these for a Rhode Gear Ultra 3 bike carrier, as Rhode Gear is no longer in business and their straps are 2-3 times more expensive.
These fit the Rhode Gear perfectly and are a stronger rubber than the original Rhode Gear straps.

These Yakima straps were ordered as a replacement for a 30 year old Roadgear bike rack. The straps fit but are tight on the mounting posts resulting in one cracking after a year in the California sun. I shifted to the next hole and will keep an eye on the others. Etrailer noted the possible tight issue in their product info. I'm glad to at least have an option. Maybe there is a less tight option. The posts on Roadgear are .580" 14.75mm
Thanks to the fantastic Q&A info I found on etrailer.com I was able to determine that I could use these Yakima straps as a replacement for no longer available straps for my Rhode Gear 4 Bike shuttle hitch rack. All of my Rhode Gear straps were cracked or split in two. As was noted in the Q&A about these the rubber is a little harder than my old Rhode Gear straps but they do work perfectly. I am able to get some more life out of the old Rhode Gear rack! Thanks!
I ordered replacement straps for my Rhoad Gear bike rack, as the old straps became cracked. I found what I needed on etrailer.com and easily ordered 3 sets of straps. It is hard to rate something like rubber chain straps for a bike hitch as other than "works fine" or "doesn't work". So, these work fine, as advertised.

No problems...keeping my bike safe!
I ordered these for my bighorn rack. They did not fit the rack. All ended up breaking within 24 hours and ripped apart. This was advised as the right part but were not. I normally have a great experience with your site. This I feel was an abnormal incident.
We rant across the bicycle rack we had been hoping for at an incredible price, but was missing the rubber chain straps. Simply came home - googled and discovered etrailer, and in about a week we have a fantastic Yakima Bike Rack that is as good as new, but 1/3 of the price! THANK YOU!
Had a 20 year-old Rhode Gear Super Cycle Shuttle which was still functioning just fine but the rubber straps that hold the bikes were starting to crack/possibly break. Instead of buying a whole new bike rack, I looked online and found etrailer, which had these replacement rubber straps. It turned out the straps fit my existing rack just fine, so now I don't have to buy a new bike rack.

These work great for an older bike rack. Very thankful that etrailer.com still sells replacement rubber chain straps that accommodate multiple models. Highly recommend and will look to purchase from etrailer.com again in the future.
My Rhode Gear rack had a tear in the strap which made it "iffy) to secure the bike. These replacement straps worked perfectly. A little stiff, but they work well. Just got them. Hope they last as it put life back into my bike rack
A great substitute for my old bike racks dead straps! Be sure to warm them before installing to make it easier for the rubber to stretch.

Product worked as advertised and was a simple quick inexpensive fix for an old bike carrier with degraded rubber bike fasteners.
The straps were exactly as they were described! I have a a Rhode Gear bike rack and couldn't find straps for it but the Yakima straps work great!
straps work but are a little tight and difficult to use on the bike rack. Rack is a Rhode Gear rack so straps are noty an exact match to original straps.
Exactly the parts I needed, in the original box from Yakima.
