I did not receive instructions with this kit. It is not apparent how to get the old nut plastic housing out. Help

It sounds like you are actually talking about part # 8890260 with the pin and anti-rattle nut and housing. On the outside of the rack shank close to the end you will see 2 holes with part of the black plastic nut housing in them. These hold the nut in. You will need to push them in while pulling on the hook in the at the same time to remove the old assembly. When putting in the new one be sure to have the hook end facing towards the shank opening. Once the retention pieces fit into the holes installation is complete.
