Hey everyone, it's Evangeline, and today we're taking a look at the Replacement Pull Pin for your Yakima Racks, right here at etrailer. It happens, wear and tear happens. Maybe you're taking your bike racks offroading, and you hit a tree or a rock the wrong way. Or maybe you just find things are not there on your rack, they go missing. You lose them someway, somehow. That's where replacement parts come in handy.
So, this is actually a direct replacement part for the Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack, but can also be used for other racks, like the Yakima OnRamp. So I'll show you how to figure out what's the right part to replace and then how to replace it. This here's a perfect example of why you would need a replacement part. So, this pin actually came off. The cable no longer was attached to the pin.
And we used cable ties just to get it fixed someway, somehow before we got the proper replacement part. So, for this reason, we have our replacement pin. So even though the heads are different colors, the dimensions are still the same. You still have a 16 millimeter barrel. Your cable length is the same.
You do have a slightly different push pin, but it'll still work. To replace it, we first need to take this off the bolt. So, for the OnRamp, you're gonna need a little torque wrench and just loosen that bolt. Once that bolt is out, you can either use the push pin on your replacement part. I like to just reuse the bolt, if possible.
Whichever option you prefer to use, just make sure to secure it to the bike rack properly. And just like that, you're able to replace your push pin. So, we have a lot of different replacement parts right here at etrailer. Hopefully this helped you out with seeing if this was the right one for you. This was purchased to replace the one I lost. The plastic insert that is supposed to hold the pin in place fails fairly early on and the small ball set in the pin itself that secures it in place came out completely and got lost. So now I have to use elastic bands to keep it in place. Now I know how I lost the first one.
The seller did deliver as promised and actually followed up with me recently on my satisfaction which gave me the though to write a review on it. The distributor (rtrailer) is a reliable company.

Nice pin. I was hoping it would work as a replacement pin for the Yakima Evo bike carrier I have, but it doesn't. So, if you're looking for a replacement pin for your Evo carrier, this is not it.

We are travelling thousands of miles from home and carrying our bikes with us on a Yakima platform bike rack. We lost the pull pin for the rack and, although there is one other pin to hold the rack in place, our bikes are heavy, 50+ pounds each, and I wanted the security of the second pin if we are going to travel at high speeds. I searched everywhere in Phoenix and couldn't find one but etrailer had one in stock. It cost a veritable fortune to ship it to me but I needed it quickly and etrailer performed. What can I say except a heartfelt thank you! Great service. It's exactly what I needed.

I recently forgot to put the pull pin back in after folding up my Yakima HoldUp rack and then drove for several miles. This ruined the pin and it wouldn't stay in after that. I searched around and found etrailer and it looked like the exact part I needed. It was and works perfectly now that it's installed on my rack. Thanks for having exactly what I needed

This pin is absolutely necessary for either the Yakima HoldUp or Yakima HoldUp Plus 2. Without it the rack can slip down into the "loading" position during transit, which is extremely scary. I had it happen several times before I got the pin. I believe this is a design flaw in the HoldUp. My HoldUp didn't come with this pin, and the installation instructions and video from Yakima don't mention it. But I'd absolutely get one.

There is always a possibility that the SpeedKnob can fail in which case your bike rack and bikes would go tumbling off the vehicle to sure destruction if not for the pull pin so yeah, I would say it is rather essential to both others on the road and your bikes for safety.
