Furrion 7-Way Adapter Power With Headlights Off

Question:
Does the furrion 7 way adaptor power your trailer lights/cameras if your headlights are off and car is running?

Welcome back Michael. The 7-Way Vehicle Power Adapter # FR87PR takes the vehicle’s PWM/insufficient running-light signal and provides a steady 12V supply so Furrion cameras can operate properly. The tow vehicle lights still need to be powered on to energize the circuit. So if the headlights/running lights are off, a camera wired into the trailer’s lights will be off as well.
Is there a specific camera system you are looking at?

Good question. My trailer lights have been staying on whenever the 7 pin cable is connected, even with the truck off! It drained both truck batteries when we did not unhitch and I left the cables connected. I wondered what has changed! The RV is in the shop today for inspection and replacing an awning cover. I will test it by removing the adapter when we get the vehicle back. The Furrion camera only works with the adapter connected. I use the Furrion as a rear-view mirror while driving. The Furrion works better than the GMC camera which has too wide of a field of view. A 2021 GMC 3500HD Denali.

AS Richard B has suggested, your rear view camera will function with only the marker lights on.

No, headlights need to be on for that adapter to work. It works great when lights are on.

No it does not. You need to have at least your running lights on for it to have power.
