Troubleshooting Non-Working Sidemarker Cameras Of A Furrion Vision S RV Camera System

Updated 07/01/2024 | Published 02/17/2023

Question:

I have a furion camera system on a new keystone raptor, pulling it with a 22 Silverado, the side marker lights on the cameras do not work unless hooked up directly to the battery. I just purchased an in-line filter adapter VGR64VR from you. Will this correct that problem as well? Or do I need the other 7 way adapter too? Also can it be wired into one of the side light/cameras or must it be wired into the rear camera? Thank you

2020 and newer GM trucks use pulse width modulation which won't send enough power to properly operate a Furrion RV camera system. To solve this Furrion came out with the # FR87PR which corrects the problem by looping over power from the 12v circuit to the running light circuit.

ASA Electronics made the # VGR64VR and it just so happened to also solve the power issue by storing power and properly feeding the main camera 12 volts and fixing the signal issues. You would only need to use one of these to solve the issues you've been experiencing. I recommend going with the # VGR64VR because the installation is simple and is a permanent fix.

Once the main camera has enough power it will be able to properly communicate with the side cameras giving you their views.

I am wondering if my 2014 Sierra could also have this problem? Which option would be best to try?

@KevinR The PWM Filter # VGR64VR is 100% going to be the better option. You'll spend like 20-30 minutes splicing it in and then never have to mess with it again. The # FR87PR would require you to plug it in every single time and store it when not in use. It also adds length so you 7-way cable from the trailer might need to be reworked to avoid it dragging on the ground.
