Which Wheel Bearing Seal Fits a 2022 Little Guy Mini Max Camper?

Question:

Need to confirm which wheel bearing seals will fit a 2022 Little Guy Mini Max Camper. I don’t know the axel detail, I’m assuming 3500 but not sure. Your web site indicates there are double lip seals. Are they truly double lip? The ID noted is 1.719 and OD is 2,565. I’d like to ask that you confirm this detail represents the seals for the above camper. Thanks very much.

Hi Robert! I'd be happy to help. Most 2022 Little Guy Mini Max campers are built on a Dexter #10 Torflex axle, and if that's what yours has, the correct grease seal is Part # RG06-050. It has the 1.719 inch inside diameter and 2.565 inch outside diameter you mentioned, and yes, it is a true double lip grease seal. If you decide to replace the bearings while you're in there, the matching bearing kit is Part # BK2-100.

The only reason I don't want to tell you to order those just yet is because I've heard of a few Mini Max campers being built with a Dexter #9 Torflex axle instead. If yours happens to be one of those, the correct grease seal would be Part # RG06-020, and the matching bearing kit would be Part # BK1-150.

The easiest way to be 100% sure is to check the Dexter identification sticker on the axle. On a Torflex axle, it's usually located on the rear side of the axle tube, facing the back of the trailer, near the center. If you can send me the information from that sticker, I'll be happy to confirm exactly which seal you need before you order. I'd much rather double check than have you end up with the wrong parts.

Robert, Heather contacted me, requesting any comments I might have to make about the axle grease seals your considering. That said, I don't know if the Dexter axles on my BigTex carhauler use the same seals as on your trailer or not, but what I can say is the seals I bought from eTrailer were a piece of cake to install as comparted to the seals that same in the bearings & seal kit I got from O-Reilly. Besides the fact the eTrailer seals are indeed true double-lip seals, which the ones with the forementioned bearing & seal kits were not, the eTrailer seals were SO much easier to set at the entry of the seal bore and then with a few gentle taps from my flat faced hammer, they slid into place just like they should. The bevel on the edge of all these seals enabled me to easily set the seals in position to get them started into the bores in the wheels and quickly and easily get them tapped into place. Try as I did, I could not get the other kit's seals to even start into the bores, let alone get them fully in place. Although I haven't made a long trip with this trailer since replacing the bears and seals, I did make a fairly short "shake-down" trip to make sure there weren't any issues with the maintenance work I did, and after returning home with the car hauler there were NO signs of anything wrong - there was no axial or radial play between the wheels and axles and there was absolutely no sign of lube escaping past the seals. So, I'm very confident this trailer is ready for many more miles before it needs any more work, and I can thank the good folks at eTrailer for making these great double-lip seals that helped me get my trailer into good running condition again.
