Expanding Solar on 2024 Jayco Greyhawk 31F

Updated 10/08/2026 | Published 10/07/2026

Question:

I have a 2024 Jayco Greyhawk 31F and want to know how I can expand my solar. The factory setup has one 200W GoSolar panel. How many more panels can I add to this current setup using the stock solar controller? I have recently swapped out the stock batteries and converter to a 200Ah Lithium battery and converter setup. Are there any other considerations I should make with regard to the Lithium battery swap? It seems like the solar system should work fine with the new batteries.

Hey Reed! Your 2024 Jayco Greyhawk 31F came standard with a 200W solar panel and dual solar controller, but Jayco doesn't specify the exact controller model in their published information. If you can send me the model number from your solar controller I can verify exactly what you have and how much solar it can handle.

If you have the 30A Go Power controller that is commonly used with these systems, it can handle up to 600 watts of solar. That would allow you to add two more Go Power Overlander 200 Watt Expansion Panels # GP76AR. Each expansion kit includes the feet and branch connectors. However, you'll want to install these in parallel which means swapping the connectors for # GP22VR and # GP82VR. For installation, you'll want some self-leveling sealant like # DC94SR along with butyl tape # DC38SR.

As for your lithium upgrade, the solar system will work with your new 200Ah lithium battery. You'll need to make sure the solar controller is set to the appropriate LiFePO4 charging profile for your battery. The exact setting can vary depending on which Go Power controller you have, so once I have the model number I can verify the correct setting for you.

I actually have my own Jayco travel trailer set up very similarly with three 200W panels connected in parallel using the 3-way branch connectors and a 200Ah lithium battery bank. I've been really happy with the setup and it does a great job keeping the batteries charged. See the attached photo.

Where are you headed next with the Greyhawk?

Hi Robin Thanks for the great response! So, my controller is the GP-RVC-30-MPPT. That controller looks to work will with Lithium and support up to 600W input, which is what I want. It sounds like this controller supports "series wiring." When I wire these with the OG panel, what is the difference between wiring these in series or parallel? Which way do I want to wire them and what extra parts would I need to run two more 200W panels? I believe you added that info to the last message but I want to clarify. Thanks!

@ReedH thanks for sending the controller model! The GP-RVC-30-MPPT confirms you have the 30A controller I was expecting, so two more 200W panels will bring you right up to its 600W maximum. It does support series wiring, but I would stick with the parallel setup since partial shade on one panel won't have as much impact on the others. If you're only camping somewhere with consistent full sun, like the desert, series wiring would be worth considering.
