How to Eliminate Error Messages on Dash When Using LED Hitch Cover

Question:
LED cover install to hitch opening. 4 pin connector plugs in and sign lights up when you use the lights or step on the brakes. But the truck sense a trailer connection, anyone knows how fix it without error dashboard want to put it the led cover

Hey Mike,
This is a relatively common but super frustrating issue and the solution comes in the form of load resistors like # DI34ZR. Installing a resistor on each of the circuits of your LED hitch cover will eliminate the error messages you're getting on the dash.
Basically what's happening is your vehicle is sensing the voltage draw of the LED cover, making it believe you're hooked up to a trailer, but since the draw from the cover is obviously very minimal, it assumes something is wrong with the trailer lights. The resistors mentioned above will essentially mimic an increased power draw to trick the vehicle back into thinking a properly working trailer is attached (and clear those error messages).
What type of LED cover do you have? Do you use it to increase visibility or is it something that just looks super cool?

Put a flatbed on my 2007 RAM 2500. The flat bed had LED lights. Turn signals on fast and alarm sounding with brake and turn signal. Started with these and did not work to fix problems. Went to the plug in resistors. Still not working. Replaced the LED lights with regular lights. Still the same problems. Now have regular lights and plug in resistors and the same issues. Very frustrating. Truck worked fine before the switch to the flatbed. Pretty much have given up and just live with the fast turn signal and brake warning. Thanks, David
