Replacment Master Cylinder for 2002 Heritage Boat trailer with Disc Brakes

Published 05/14/2026

Question:

I have a 2002 Heritage tandem boat trailer with disk breaks. I need a new master cylinder. My current one is a 5680c. I do not need a new solonoid so what is the difference between the DM5918 and 5650? Is it just have the solonoid added?

I can explain Jeff, thanks for reaching out!

If your trailer has disc brakes and your current master cylinder is marked 5680C, then the Demco Replacement Master Cylinder with Electric Lockout for Disc Brakes # DM5918 is the correct replacement style to use.

The main difference between the DM5918 and the 5650 is not just the solenoid but they are actually designed for different brake types.

Since your Heritage trailer has disc brakes, I would not recommend the Demco Actuator Replacement Master Cylinder for Drum Brakes # 5650 , even if you do not currently need the solenoid.

Do you usually launch in salt or freshwater?
