Recommended 2-1/2" Long Amber Clearance or Marker Light for a Boat Trailer

Updated 05/11/2026 | Published 05/09/2026

Question:

I am looking to replace some of the marker lights, tail lights and clearance lights on my 1999 Shorelandr boat trailer. The marker lights have two female plug receivers. I havent been able to find a suitable replace yet, so I am hoping you can point me in the right direction. I would prefer incandescent over led so I dont have to change the wiring or add any ground connections. The tail lights and clearance lights will be a project later this summer.

Thanks for the pictures Jaime. The Peterson item # M152A is what you'll need to replace the marker light in your Shorelandr boat trailer's fender. This is an incandescent light that measures 2-1/2" wide x 1-1/4" wide. It is sold individually and has two male terminals that accept a standard 2-wire female plug. I attached a picture below so you can see the terminal connections.

I know you said you preferred to avoid an LED replacement light. However, the Thinline LED Clearance and Side Marker Light item # AL91AB has been our go to replacement/upgrade for Shorelandr trailer's. It measures 2-1/2" long x 1-3/16" wide. It has ports on the back that connect to a pigtail like item # A46PB. I attached a couple of pictures below of this light. The installed one is on a 2001 Shorelandr trailer.

What kind of boat do you have and do you have any part numbers or dimensions off your other lights?

Jeered, I’m always impressed with your quick responses and excellent information. The lights are Truck-Lite 12v 3w model 2853595. There is also a printed number: 28769 on the backside. By the way, it’s a 1999 SeaDoo Challenger 1800. You guys have been a tremendous help in upgrading my Shoreland’r boat trailer.. I’ll send pics when everything is replaced.

@JamieK Thanks for the kind words Jaime! Happy to help. Your Truck-Lite 12v 3w model 2853595 can be replaced with the Thinline LED Clearance and Side Marker Light - Submersible item # AL91RB. That looks like a fun boat! I can't wait to see the pics when you're done. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

@JerredH Does that mean the AL91AB be the replacement for the amber side markers? Are these lights going to be the closest thing to an OEM replacement? I am also interested in replacing the plastic frame to these lights. Do you have a model number for that part as well? Many thanks for all of your expertise and assistance. Greatly appreciated. Jamie

@Jamie Yes, that is correct! The Thinline LED Clearance and Side Marker Light item # AL91AB is my recommendation to replace your amber side markers. The Grommet item # A91GB would be the correct replacement for the item # AL91AB light. You're welcome!

I replaced the original incandescent lamps with LED awhile ago. I don’t remember how I wired them up. I do remember that it wasn’t very difficult. Have never had a problem with them. Go LED. You’ll never have to be concerned about trailer lights again.
