Reese Towpower 3216 Chain Kit Availability and Replacement Option

Updated 04/30/2026 | Published 04/27/2026

Question:

Is the Reese towpower replacement WDH chain kit 3216 still available? I saw it last week on your website but its not showing up today?

Hi Brian, the Reese Towpower replacement chain kit 3216 is no longer available, which is why you’re not seeing it on the site anymore. The good news is you still have a solid replacement option that will do the same job. I recommend the Curt replacement lift chain kit part # C17111, which is designed to work with both round bar and trunnion style weight distribution systems like your Reese setup.

This kit includes the chains, U bolts, and hardware you need to get everything back up and running, and it’s a reliable swap for the older Reese kit. In some cases you may need to reuse or pick up a flat washer depending on your exact setup, but overall it’s a straightforward replacement and a common solution now that the Reese version has been discontinued.

I know it’s frustrating when something you just saw disappears, especially when you’re trying to keep your setup safe and dialed in, but this will get you back on the road with confidence. What kind of trailer are you towing with your weight distribution setup?

I'm towing a 7600 lb Airstream that has ~1000 lbs of tongue weight. The Reese WDH has 1200 lb trunnion bars. I can easily get some new washers if needed but I liked the Reese 3216 kit because it also had the replacement clips ( having some spares would be comforting). Can the clips be ordered separately?

@BrianP Nice! The Airstreams have that cool retro look I love. You're correct, the Reese kit did come with those pins. We no longer carry a lot of Reese product, sadly we no longer have the pins but I can tell you if you search "Replacement Safety Pins for Lift Unit Reese" they are still out there on the web!
