If your trailer feels heavy on the tongue or causes the back end to sag, this Reese trunnion bar system levels things out. It evenly spreads your tongue weight—rated for 200 lbs to 600 lbs—across all the axles so you can safely tow up to 6,000 lbs. That balance restores steering and braking control, keeping your ride smooth and predictable even with a full load.

Old-style washer stacks can make setup a hassle, but this system keeps things simple. The Reese head uses exterior serrated washers that let you dial in the tilt without disassembling the hitch. Loosen, adjust, and tighten—it’s quick, secure, and doesn’t require any special tools or multiple washers piled on a pin.

This setup starts as pure weight distribution, but it’s built to grow with your towing needs. If you notice sway down the line, just add Reese’s Strait-Line dual-cam sway control (RP26002 – sold separately) for active correction that helps during cornering and crosswinds. Or go with a bar-style friction sway control (83660 – sold separately) for a simpler add-on that lets you fine-tune tension with a turn of a handle.

Everything you need for the core setup comes in the box—head assembly, lift brackets, trunnion spring bars, lift chains, and hardware—all fitting standard 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers rated for weight distribution use. The system mounts about 30" back from the hitch ball and needs around 5-1/2" of clear frame space. The adjustable shank and hitch ball with a 1-1/4" diameter threaded shank are sold separately so you can match them exactly to your trailer setup.
Once properly adjusted, users report that long drives transform from white-knuckle tension to comfortable control. The smoother handling and balanced load mean less rocking or bouncing at highway speeds—so you can focus on the drive instead of fighting the trailer.

Reese equipment quality is top notch. The adjustment mechanism at the head is what convinced me to pick Reese over other manufacturers. Customer service from etrailer is exceptional and will keep me coming back in the future.
The product was all it was advertised to be. Easy assembly very heavy duty. I have not towed my 33ft toy hauler camper yet but know it will be satisfactory. I would recommend this product.
It was just like it was described. Came in perfect condition, fast delivery, no problems. I'll order again from etrailer.com.... They have what you need and want, beats shopping around all over town and the internet...
Installed it today on my cargo trailer and 2022 Ford Explorer and took it for test drive to the local truck scale. Products and instructions were great. Pam was wonderful helping me pick out exactly what I needed (and not try to sell me things I didn’t need).
Updated my weight distribution hitch from 800lb to 1200lb. Vanessa helped me get what I needed. It was shipped and delivered quickly and at a fair price.
Lighting fast shipping!! Just received my hitch, and installed it last night. Straight forward instructions really took about an hour and a half by time I had it all adjusted and fit right. It seems to be well made and very heavy duty. I am super pleased with E-Trailer; their customer service is top notch (Andi Rocks!!).
I highly recommend E-Trailer for any hauling help..

This is my second weight distribution hitch, which was made by Reese and the first one was used from 1993 to 2017. Although I bought the trunnion bar hitch, as it was the same type as my first hitch, there are changes in the design of the hitch, which I believe will be improvements over the older design. I'm ready to get on the road with this Reese hitch pulling my travel trailer.
I received box from UPS and look good. I checked up all parts and last year I bought new travel trailer They installed cheap EAZ elite and drive not safe sway. I decide to replace to new reese.Reason I would like put dual Cam High Performance in new Reese Rp66022 parts that I were ordered few parts in past and I read lot about your company that I like to read Tech experts Q & A. I felt to trust your company, lot feedback and show video and instructions.I knew your company make sure customer happy with it. I not put in hitch my truck for set up and drive yet . Here is snow and cold so I will install in soon.
Truck ended up in the shop. Blown engine. We cancelled the order for the time being. Sales rep was very helpful both in helping to order the hitch and canceling the order as a result of the engine problem.
I will seriously consider reordering a hitch from etrailer. The rep was very helpful on
helping us purchase the right hitch. It was delivered at the approximate time as promised. Unfornately we had to return it as the truck is in the garage.
Product arrived a day early. ETrailer has excellent shipping. I haven’t installed the hitch yet, however I opened the box right away. All of the parts were there and it was wrapped up very well. No scratches or chipped paint at all. Looks like a very good product. Can’t wait to use it. Thanks ETrailer.
Over satisfied with the Reese Straight Line hitch!! It does everything it says it will with no question!! I had a regular Reese equalizer and got a lot of sway with my 34 foot Springdale behind my 2016 Ram 1500 ecodiesel, and the Reese Straight Line eliminated ALL of it!! The installation process is a little tricky but with the instructions and the video etrailer has on YouTube, it worked out just great!! Completely satisfied with the help and knowledge from etrailer!!!!
Items arrived very quickly. Setup instructions were very clear. Would highly recommend Reese WD Hitch for all your heavy towing needs.
This was my first encounter with etrailer and I have to say it was hands down the best service I have ever received! Really.. And no I don't work for etrailer!!!!!! We use to live in a country where good service was just a way of life. Today, lets face it, service is terrible! But not etrailer.. I placed an order for this product online and selected the normal shipping method by ground. I immediately got the normal email "thank you for your order". But then I got another email from an actual person, George.. George let me know the product was in their distribution facility and will ship in 24-48 hours.. To my surprise, the order shipped the same day and I received another email from a Frank stating they took the liberty of upgrading my shipping to 3 to 5 days express shipping instead of the normal 5 to 7 days at no charge to me! So my response to this was "wow great service thank you!".. Again to my surprise I received an email from a Nikki who thanked me for my positive feedback. On a side note can you believe, they actually put their direct phone with extension along their email address on the bottom of their emails so you can actually get in touch with them? I didn't think this type of stellar service existed anymore.. Kudos to etrailer.. Ok, I think I almost forgot to write about the actual product.. The product was made very well, hooked up with no issues, and when I had questions on adjustments, you guessed it, i called and emailed folks at etrailer and they actually helped me!!!! They could have sent me a box of cracker jacks and I would have given then an excellent review! :) Keep up the great work etrailer... I won't shop anywhere else for my trailer needs..
Not a whole lot to say about this product. It's works very well for us without any issue. Only complaint I have is not really product-related: The pipe used for lifting the bars into position is a tad longer than I wish it was. Reason being is that occasionally I need to have that bar completely vertical to get the chain on the trailer prior to lifting. The entire unit sits so low sometimes I have to cheat the system by choosing a link with less lifting power... then do the other side... then come back and to it all over again. Just a hassle and yes, i know I can just cut the bar with a cutoff wheel, but I just have not got to it yet.
I really like the Reese Trunnion style weight distribution. It gives more clearance to the road than round-bar kits.
I appreciate the fact that the bars are available in different spring rates for different tongue loads. I dial my front axle load restoration (FALR) exactly to 100% and having a variety of spring rates makes this possible.
Thoroughly torture tested between 7500 lb camper and 10500 lb trailerable a houseboat. Bought the anti-sway cams separately off [online] due to availability. Combined as a system, this stopped anti-sway and saved my butt during a hard downpour rain and side winds. The cams were the difference in pulling off to get to safety vs laying on the side of road upside down like some 18 wheeliers.
Yes, its expensive. No, you dont buy another one unless you sell it with the camper / trailer.
After a slight modification to my trailer (brackets fit a 2.5 inch frame; mine was 3 inches), this hitch fit perfectly and works great. Now I can tow a 3 ton tractor without worrying about putting too much strain on my rear axle.
Also impressed with etrailer.com's service - the hitch arrived much sooner than expected. Will definitely be doing business on this site again.
I use this 1500 lbs WDH with my 14,000 lb equipment trailer and 10,000 lb dump trailer. Previously, I used a 1200 lb WDH.
I just hauled a load of pavers (a gross combined weight of just over 20,000 lbs) with 11,600 lbs on the trailer axles. I had 1400 lbs of tongue weight (used a scale to measure). The one-way trip was traveled on a two-lane highway crossing over five 5,000 ft mountain passes. Excellent hitch performance uphill and downhill through lots of tight curves.
The tension bars are easy to install / remove and they have great ground clearance. If it is necessary to adjust the hitch angle, the fine graduations for different hitch angles make it easy to get the exact angle needed.
Great product!
Great product, never tow without it.
Install is easy but you will need a high torque drill. I took it to the shop and they had it on in 20 minutes. I am very pleased with the improvement in safety and stability and with the ease of use and removal. It is exactly what my Avalanche needed to haul heavy loads! If only I could bolt on a 6.0L ...
Had these installed by a dealer and drove a few hours to a campsite this spring. Only the second time driving a camper and first time on a major highway. White knuckle ride for the first half hour then realized the camper wasn't swaying or rocking and started to relax. Coming home two days later I started out relaxed and enjoyed the drive....even passed a truck!
Works GREAT as it should. No problems with it at all.

Still happy with the system. I unhook the cams and spring bars just a couple miles away from our campsite because they recommend not backing up with them attached. Even that short distance I can feel a difference with the trailer moving around.
