Features to know about

Smooths Out the Ride: Shock-Absorbing 2-5/16" RockerBall

Rough roads and sudden bumps can make towing feel harsh. The built-in RockerBall with ShockDrop technology cushions the connection point between truck and trailer. Its flexible polyurethane core absorbs rattling and vibration so you feel fewer jolts in the cab and keep better control over your trailer. The forged steel base and black powder coat finish handle up to 7,500 lbs GTW and 750 lbs tongue weight, giving you both comfort and confidence on the road.

Keeps the Trailer in Line: Friction Sway Control That Works When You Need It

Crosswinds, passing traffic, or curving highways can push a trailer around. The included friction-style sway control bar uses adjustable tension to resist side-to-side movement after it starts. It connects to the welded sway-control tab on the ball mount with a 1-1/4" sway-control ball and mounts to the trailer frame with its own attachment ball. Once set, it quietly keeps your trailer tracking straight and steady for a more relaxed tow.

Brakes When You Do: Wireless Echo Brake Controller

Good braking balance makes towing safer and smoother. The Echo wireless brake controller activates your trailer’s brakes in proportion to how your vehicle slows down—without the lag of time-delay systems. It plugs into a 7-way connector and links by Bluetooth to your smartphone through the free Echo Smart Control app. You can adjust braking power right from your phone, store unlimited vehicle-trailer profiles, and sync up to five Echo devices for different setups.

Stops the Rattle: Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin for a Quiet Setup

A noisy hitch can make even short trips annoying. The included anti-rattle kit locks the ball mount tight inside your 2" receiver so it doesn’t clank or move around while towing. The high-strength steel hardware has a yellow zinc-plated finish for long-term durability. It’s a simple fix that keeps your setup quiet and solid mile after mile.

Built for Everyday Towing: Fixed Ball Mount with Practical Rise and Drop

Getting the height right keeps everything level and predictable. This fixed mount offers a 2" drop or 3/4" rise so you can dial in a balanced setup whether you’re pulling a small camper or cargo trailer. The sturdy steel shank slides smoothly into a standard 2" receiver, making hookup straightforward every time you tow.

  • Brake Controller for 2021 Volkswagen Atlas With Tow Package
Hey Ryan, welcome back! A brake controller will cover anything with brakes and then you will also need a ball mount. The # C57DR you were looking at will work, but you don't really need all of that. The sway bar would be a permanent addition to a single trailer so it wouldn't work on anything else you may tow later on. The Echo is convenient, but a lot of people have issues with the app so I don't really recommend it anymore. Nothing would be more frustrating then trying to get on the...

  • Can I Use the Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Kit w Sway Control on a Audi Q8?
Hey Andy, welcome back! The last time we spoke you were looking at the Stealth Hitch item # 391AUDQ818T. If this is what you ended up installing on your Audi Q8 then no you will not be able to use the Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Kit w Sway Control, Wireless Brake Controller item # C57DR. The ball mount you have is not going to be compatible. You will be able to use the Curt Wireless Brake Controller item # C51180 though. As far as sway control on an Audi you're going to be limited to...

  • Best Towing Gear for a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas with the Factory Tow Package
Hey David, thanks for reaching out! A few years ago I would have said you're up the river without a paddle, but fortunately there has been some towing equipment made in the recent past that can help mitigate the lack of a weight distribution hitch. The Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Kit # C57DR is what I recommend you pick up for your trailer towing. You'll likely need to flip the ball mount over in the rise position for your towing setup, but this kit provides you with everything you need...

  • Could I Use The C57DR With A 2021 VW Atlas Not Rated For Weight Distribution?
Hey Kayla, You can absolutely use the # C57DR with your vehicle. This is not considered a weight distribution hitch so it is going to be a great add on to reduce the sway on your Volkswagen. It not only includes the friction sway bar, but also a shock absorbing ball mount for increased ride comfort. It has plenty of capacity for your trailer so you won't have any worries towing it with this setup. Do you need the brake controller as well or are you just looking for something like the...

  • Would I Use the Curt Shock Absorbing Kit w Sway Control Instead of a Weight Distribution System?
Yes, it does Chris. The Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Kit w Sway Control item # C57DR includes a friction style sway bar that bolts into the side of your trailer's frame. This would be used instead of a weight distribution system. The ball mount that is included with the item # C57DR kit is not adjustable. It is a 2" fixed ball mount with 2" of drop. What kind of trailer do you have? You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll...

  • Weight Distribution
For a trailer with an aluminum frame, the use of weight distribution comes down to the trailer manufacturer, to the strength of the frame, like you said, and its ability to handle the stress of weight distribution. It sounds like they are saying not to use weight distribution with their trailer, so I definitely don't recommend it.

  • Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Kit w/ Sway Control and Wireless Brake Controller Combo
I would be happy to help you. We hear this complaint quite often about dealerships not wanting to install after market wiring for random reasons because they want you to purchase theirs usually. The Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Kit w/ Sway Control and Wireless Brake Controller - 2" Hitch - 7.5K item # C57DR would be a great set up for controlling your trailer brakes and addressing sway control issues. Many trailer hitches have restrictions on weight distribution systems so yours not being...

  • Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Kit w/ Sway Control and without Wireless Brake Controller
If you wanted to order the Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Starter Kit pat # C57DR without the brake controller you'd just need to order the individual components of the kit without the controller. So what you'd want would be the Rocker Ball # C45WR, the sway control part # 17200 and the Curt anti-rattle kit part # C22321.

  • Replacement Air Conditioner for a 2007 Fleetwood Bounder 34F Workhorse
I have a solution for you but you can't replace the compressor on a motorhome AC like you would in your home or car. You will need to replace the AC unit on your 2007 Fleetwood Bounder 34F Workhorse with the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Coleman Setup w/ Start Capacitor item # ACCOL150B. Hello Rob, Great questions! The Curt Shock Absorbing Towing Kit w/ Sway Control, Wireless Brake Controller - 2-5/16" Ball - 7.5K # C57DR does not need to be used with the Curt Echo Brake Controller. Since you already have a brake controller, you can purchase the other components separately. You’ll want # C45WR and # 17200.
