Plug In Trailer Wiring Harness For A 2024 Toyota Highlander XLE  

Toyota provides the factory wiring harness which has plugs behind the bumper and in the interior rear passenger compartment. The wiring kit from ETrailer will have the four pin plug to connect to the connector in the bumper and the control box (brain) that goes in the passenger compartment. All you need to do is connect a ground wire and attach the small pack of cards sized controller to the structure. I ended up sanding a small dime sized spot to clean the paint and get some bare metal and use a self tapping screw to attach the ground wire. It is important to have a good ground so the controller works without any issues. Other than that, a few zip ties to tie everything up and you have functioning trailer lights with its own fuse so nothing on your Grand Highlander will be affecting by bad trailer light issues. Easy peasy!

I installed this kit in my 2024 grand highlander. Easy peasy. The brain that goes in the side compartment next to the rear seat is easier than expecting. Toyota moved the plug in part behind the panel up within reach. No need to remove panel. Definitely use the whole kit. The receptacle plug behind the rear wheel under the back has to match up with the plug in the kit. I used a different plug and the wires didn’t match up. Had to use the matching plug in the kit. Easy peasy.
