Fits perfectly on 2020 Highlander Limited! Easy to install. Finished receiver height is 16”. The hitch is completely hidden behind the rear facia. For the wiring I used the Tekonsha 118252 that plugs directly into the new plug located under the bumper driver’s side. I used the Toyota PT725-48200 ($55) converter that plugs into the wiring located behind the side panel, second row seat, drivers side. Why on earth Toyota buried this connector there is beyond belief. When you add any hitch, including this one, the kick opener still works sometimes. Toyota advises you turn off the opener in vehicle settings. I never used the kick opener before as it was always sort of hit or miss gimmick. Pressing the button always worked faster anyway.
Installed on 2022 Toyota Highlander SXE, which takes a different model number than all other Highlanders in 2022. Easy to install, by myself using a rachet strap over the frame and under cross bar of hitch. Just remember to unhook the muffler strap , to have clearance for cross bar to get above tail pipe would buy again!
Great price from etrailer!!! Item was dropped shipped from manufacturer CURT, packaging was horrible but NOT etrailer.com’s fault at all!!!
As for the trailer hitch it fit perfectly removed one bolt on passenger side and minor trimming of under panel on the drivers side. Installed in less then a hour!!
CURT, TOYOTA, and etrailer.....This is a proper combination of quality, engineering and customer service. Having personally installed at least five CURT hitches, I can confirm the quality, fit and value. Toyota trucks and S.U.V.'s are engineered to make good use of these hitches. etrailer has the best website and customer service. Their prices are very competitive and customer support is excellent from selection tom shipping to follow up support.
I installed this hitch by myself, took my time(at the preferred pace for a 77year old curmudgeon) and everything went smooth.
The support videos from etrailer are very helpful and the downloads from Toyota help a great deal.
I chose OEM wiring harness and backed away from the OEM hitch from Toyota.
The CURT hitch was chosen for quality, price and clearance for the spare tire. My 2023 Highlander XLE was very easy to work on due to the way Toyota sets this vehicle up for towing.

Curt 13453 or etrailer part C99FR will fit 2021 Highlander XSE and other model as well but not sure hybrid. I did installation by myself with help of moving dolly,6x6,and long strong zip ties. See pictures for more details. You do need cut out the black cover for re-installation due to tow hitch in the way or leave the black cover off.
The hitch bolted right up, no problems. Has worked well to tow my 1550 stabicraft boat around.
The hitch arrived ahead of schedule. Watched the video and did the install. Super simple. Didn't even have to jack up the car. My 15 y/o son helped me hold it up until I could get the bolts in. The "kick to open" still works and it looks great! Only the receiver shows. Honestly, installing the Toyota wiring converter behind the cupholders in the 3rd row was a bigger pain than the hitch install.
This is the second hitch Curt Hitch we've purchased and installed on one of our Highlanders. It's simple to install and didn't take very long to do so. The best part is that it doesn't interfere with you don't lose the hands free ability to open the rear hatch.

I bought this for a 2023 Highlander XSE. Very simple installation. The bumper hides everything except the actual hitch. It looks great.
Came fast and already installed DIY. It was packaged well but still had a scratch near receiver. Spray paint took care of that.
I was cheap and decided to install the hitch on my own by myself. The directions and Videos helped VERY MUCH! There is a plastic cover that was not shown in the instructions or video above the exhaust but I figured it out.
Getting the first bolt started was a pain but after that everything went smooth again. I got a Torque wrench from the Auto parts store as a loaner, I would not skip this step on a hitch.
Overall doing it by myself was a slight pain without a lift but i managed to get it done.
Shipping was VERY FAST ordered on a Thursday morning it arrived Saturday afternoon to NW Florida.

Were you cheap or resourceful? I didn't know you could borrow tools from auto parts stores so you've also taught me something today, too. What all do you plan to use the hitch for?
I have only used it for a hitch mount bike rack and it works great for that. It also tucks away nicely and is barely noticeable. The fit during installation was perfect. I am 70 years old and was able to install it without any help by using two floor jacks.
Very heavy duty hitch for the price! Easy installation (well, would have been easy with 2 people. It's heavy, so made installing it by myself a bit of a challenge, but still doable.) Fit perfectly, looks good.
I received the trailer hitch super fast. Everything arrived in great shape. This was the lowest price of this trailer hitch. Super happy with the order! Getting ready to order another trailer hitch for a different vehicle.
The hitch receiver is well made and heavy duty. Took about an hour and a half to install. Cutting the cover panels was a little tricky but the hitch receiver fit perfectly. Installing was a 2 man job.

Great service. I have a 2021 Highlander XSE and was nervous about it fitting since the website shows it excludes xse models, I contacted them and they reassured me that it fits the xse model, and if it did not I could return it and they would cover the cost of return shipping. It fit perfect on the xse model, you just have to lower the exhaust on the xse models by unhooking the exhaust hanger to get the trailer hitch up and in place before reattaching the exhaust hanger. It was my first time doing any of that on a car and it was very easy, took me 1-2 hours, would have been faster if I had someone help me lift the hitch up into place and help hold it up while I bolted it. But yes, can confirm item# c99fr fits the 2021 Highlander XSE model for anyone who is skeptical.
Nice hitch just when the package was delivered the box was tapped closed and was missing 2 bolts for the hitch.

This is the second hitch I've bought from etrailer.com. Like the first one, it went on with no problems at all. There was a piece of plastic I had to cut for the hitch to fit on my 2025 Hybrid Hylander, but I just followed the directions in the video, and all is good.
The one problem I had, had nothing to do with the hitch. I'm mentioning this in case it's helpful.
My problem was putting the bumper clips back into their slots. I'd never worked with these types of clips before (see attached image), and after about 45 minutes I realized there are two parts to them. I think of the parts as an anchor and a screw that don't come apart. In order to slide a clip into a slot, you have to first slide its "screw" out of its "anchor" as much as possible (they won't come apart), slide the "anchor" into the slot, then push the "screw" back into its "anchor".
I'm coming back to etrailer.com next time I need a hitch.

I was rear ended on the interstate in a rain storm. Lucky for me I had hitch ball in and the hitch took 90% of the impact and held firm and saved a great deal of damage.

Still great. Pulling a 2200 lb boat and trailer regularly in Florida.
Perfect fit. Installed it solo with the help of a floor jack.
7 pin wiring adapter I bought was a little above the bumper , so I had to build a bracket to drop it an inch. Other brackets were available but only dropped it 3/4 of an inch.
I used Toyota wiring to the 4 pin connector that attached to the 7 pin adapter.
I also painted the hitch and frame rails with a flat finish rustoleum rubberized paint to hopefully keep it from rusting in a few years. The factory finish is a much shinier look than this picture.
Overall, it took about 3 hours to install taking my time.

Its been a year and this hitch has worked well on our highlander. Its used mainly to tow our boat that is less than 3000 lbs. Does a good job.
