ETrailer does it again! Phenomenal customer service - made things happen I didn’t think were possible when a shipment didn’t arrive in time. The online tutorials made the whole installation process easy to follow. Buying a new trailer direct from the mfg on Monday and excited to try it out.

One year later… still awesome! Made a couple 1,000 mile plus journeys hauling a trailer with zero complications. Love it.
The hitch receiver is well made and heavy duty. Took about an hour and a half to install. Cutting the cover panels was a little tricky but the hitch receiver fit perfectly. Installing was a 2 man job.

I have only used it for a hitch mount bike rack and it works great for that. It also tucks away nicely and is barely noticeable. The fit during installation was perfect. I am 70 years old and was able to install it without any help by using two floor jacks.
Perfect fit. Installed it solo with the help of a floor jack.
7 pin wiring adapter I bought was a little above the bumper , so I had to build a bracket to drop it an inch. Other brackets were available but only dropped it 3/4 of an inch.
I used Toyota wiring to the 4 pin connector that attached to the 7 pin adapter.
I also painted the hitch and frame rails with a flat finish rustoleum rubberized paint to hopefully keep it from rusting in a few years. The factory finish is a much shinier look than this picture.
Overall, it took about 3 hours to install taking my time.

This is the second hitch I've bought from etrailer.com. Like the first one, it went on with no problems at all. There was a piece of plastic I had to cut for the hitch to fit on my 2025 Hybrid Hylander, but I just followed the directions in the video, and all is good.
The one problem I had, had nothing to do with the hitch. I'm mentioning this in case it's helpful.
My problem was putting the bumper clips back into their slots. I'd never worked with these types of clips before (see attached image), and after about 45 minutes I realized there are two parts to them. I think of the parts as an anchor and a screw that don't come apart. In order to slide a clip into a slot, you have to first slide its "screw" out of its "anchor" as much as possible (they won't come apart), slide the "anchor" into the slot, then push the "screw" back into its "anchor".
I'm coming back to etrailer.com next time I need a hitch.

It arrived in great shape. I won't say it was the easiest project I have undertaken but it fit perfectly. The video and the instructions helped plus I watched some other videos on YouTube that gave some additional recommendations. Additionally, Gwen was very helpful in assisting me with my order.

We did a x-country trip last year over a period of 3 months. We attached a hitch rack to our new hitch and it worked out perfectly. We could not be more satisfied with both the hitch and the rack

I was cheap and decided to install the hitch on my own by myself. The directions and Videos helped VERY MUCH! There is a plastic cover that was not shown in the instructions or video above the exhaust but I figured it out.
Getting the first bolt started was a pain but after that everything went smooth again. I got a Torque wrench from the Auto parts store as a loaner, I would not skip this step on a hitch.
Overall doing it by myself was a slight pain without a lift but i managed to get it done.
Shipping was VERY FAST ordered on a Thursday morning it arrived Saturday afternoon to NW Florida.

Were you cheap or resourceful? I didn't know you could borrow tools from auto parts stores so you've also taught me something today, too. What all do you plan to use the hitch for?
The hitch bolted right up, no problems. Has worked well to tow my 1550 stabicraft boat around.

Its been a year and this hitch has worked well on our highlander. Its used mainly to tow our boat that is less than 3000 lbs. Does a good job.

Installed on 2022 Toyota Highlander SXE, which takes a different model number than all other Highlanders in 2022. Easy to install, by myself using a rachet strap over the frame and under cross bar of hitch. Just remember to unhook the muffler strap , to have clearance for cross bar to get above tail pipe would buy again!
Installation was easy and packaging was secure!
Bottom edge sat slightly higher than bottom edge of vehicle bumper (2022 Highlander Platinum AWD) so had to point 4 pin light connector down with extension. Otherwise, great.
This is the second hitch Curt Hitch we've purchased and installed on one of our Highlanders. It's simple to install and didn't take very long to do so. The best part is that it doesn't interfere with you don't lose the hands free ability to open the rear hatch.

Great. Its well priced, easy to install and functional. Highly recommend this product.
My hitch and wiring kit was delivered in less than a week, that and with no shipping charges. The wiring kit was in a small box that was affixed to the inside of the hitch box, and the hitch hardware was tightly secured to the hitch with strapping tape. The only issue was that the receiver end had broken through the box, probably during transport or delivery. Maybe a layer or two of cardboard at that vulnerable spot would have helped. I’ve been a happy customer of etrailer for many many years.
Easy install. Solid materials. I put this on a 2021 Toyota Highlander XSE and the only additional piece I had to work around was taking the exhaust off the rubber mount. the hitch does press into the plastic bumper some, but not enough that is readily noticeable.
I watched the installation video a few times prior to installing. Instructions were fine with one exception. I have a 2023 XSE with a factory dial tipped exhaust. I had to disconnect the exhaust hanger in order to get enough clearance for the hitch. Everything else worked great and I like the low profile.

Exactly what I needed to know. Just got a 2023 Highlander XSE and was looking for the right hitch.
Etrailer was so easy to work with for the purchase of my Highlander hitch. I’m not going to lie, hitches aren’t easy for the average car owner to install but the instructions were good and we got it installed with no issues. I had to call customer support because I had some questions as to which hitch to order. They were very knowledgeable and guided me to the correct hitch.
We put this trailer hitch on our Toyota and have loved it since installation. The install went very well and instructions were great.
Appears a solid product which will easily my needs which is a bike hitch rack. It fit as advertised on a Toyota Highlander XSE. I’m not mechanically disinclined, but nonetheless I was fortunate that my son’s Father’s Day gift was to lead the way installing the hitch. A single person operation without a lift or another means of support and the hitch would be back in the box. Team effort and a two-hour project. Kudos to offering the videos down to the make and model of the car! Extremely helpful. Four star given a single use to date.
The hitch arrived ahead of schedule. Watched the video and did the install. Super simple. Didn't even have to jack up the car. My 15 y/o son helped me hold it up until I could get the bolts in. The "kick to open" still works and it looks great! Only the receiver shows. Honestly, installing the Toyota wiring converter behind the cupholders in the 3rd row was a bigger pain than the hitch install.
I bought this for a 2023 Highlander XSE. Very simple installation. The bumper hides everything except the actual hitch. It looks great.

Having personally installed at least five CURT hitches, I can confirm the quality, fit and value. Toyota trucks and S.U.V.'s are engineered to make good use of these hitches. etrailer has the best website and customer service. I installed this hitch by myself, took my time(at the preferred pace for a 77year old curmudgeon) and everything went smooth.
The support videos from etrailer are very helpful and the downloads from Toyota help a great deal.
I chose OEM wiring harness and backed away from the OEM hitch from Toyota.
The CURT hitch was chosen for quality, price and clearance for the spare tire. My 2023 Highlander XLE was very easy to work on due to the way Toyota sets this vehicle up for towing.

I’d give it 4.75 stars if I could. Taking a little off because it was scuffed up and had scratches in different places but it’s under the car so not a big deal and I didn’t think 4 stars was fair for that. Fast shipping, boxed well and fit my 2021 Toyota Highlander platinum like a glove. Just follow the directions. Heavier than I thought so definitely needed a 2nd set of hands getting it up in place and fastening it in.
I was rear ended on the interstate in a rain storm. Lucky for me I had hitch ball in and the hitch took 90% of the impact and held firm and saved a great deal of damage.
Curt 13453 or etrailer part C99FR will fit 2021 Highlander XSE and other model as well but not sure hybrid. I did installation by myself with help of moving dolly,6x6,and long strong zip ties. See pictures for more details. You do need cut out the black cover for re-installation due to tow hitch in the way or leave the black cover off.
Great price from etrailer!!! Item was dropped shipped from manufacturer CURT, packaging was horrible but NOT etrailer.com’s fault at all!!!
As for the trailer hitch it fit perfectly removed one bolt on passenger side and minor trimming of under panel on the drivers side. Installed in less then a hour!!
