Hi Danny, great question!

Short answer, no, The Hellwig helper springs part # HE38FR won’t work with the mono leaf suspension on your 2022 Sierra 1500. I know that can be frustrating, especially when you’re just trying to get rid of sag or improve how the truck handles a load. These Hellwig helper springs are designed to sit on top of a traditional multi-leaf steel spring pack and use that stack of leaves for support. With a mono leaf setup, there isn’t the same structure for the helper spring to engage properly, which can lead to poor fit and performance.

On your truck, the better route is going to be something that doesn’t rely on the leaf pack design. I recommend Pacbrake Alpha HD Pro Air Bag Suspension Kit w/ Internal Jounces part # PB77XV. This kit mounts between the frame and axle, so it doesn’t rely on the leaf springs at all. It helps support the weight of your load, reduces rear-end sag, and keeps your truck sitting level when you’re towing or hauling. The internal jounce bumpers are a nice bonus too because they provide extra support even if the bags aren’t fully inflated, so you’re not riding on empty air pressure alone. Overall, it helps improve stability, braking, and steering feel since your weight is distributed more evenly.

What are you trying to fix? rear sag?

I have a 2021 high country 1500. I removed the helper springs from my 2019 RST 1500 and then install work just fine. They work so well I didn’t even hesitate to move them off of the 2019 to the 2021.

@Rich Thank you for the helpful real world insight! In some cases like yours, people are able to get those helper springs to physically install and work for their setup, especially depending on how the suspension is configured. The main concern we call out is that with mono leaf or composite-style springs, they aren’t designed to engage the same way as a traditional multi-leaf pack, so performance and long-term fit can vary from truck to truck.

My truck does not have mono leaf springs. Never seen them on a Chevy truck.
