Frame Mounted Camper Tie-Downs for 2024 Ram 2500 With Mopar Steps

Updated 03/03/2026 | Published 02/26/2026

Question:

I have a 2500 ram, but it has the bed step near the back bumper. Are there any pickup camper tie downs that will work? Or id i remove the step will it work? I want to do frame mounted.

Hey Ryan! You're going to need the TorkLift tie-downs if you want the frame mounted option. Those kick-out steps occupy the same space as the tie-downs. Removing the steps will allow you to install the # TL59ZV you were looking at without any issues so that is what I recommend.

These are designed for the 6-1/2' bed with wheel to wheel running boards and a factory hitch, or an 8' bed crew cab with the same configuration. You will also need turnbuckles like the TorkLift Locking FastGun Turnbuckles for Frame-Mounted Tie-Downs # TLS9529-2-LK to complete your setup.

What kind of camper do you have?

Ryan, I also have a Ram 2500 and had to remove the step to accommodate the frame mount. Not a big deal as we have to remove the tailgate to also accommodate the camper. To make it easier to get into the bed when the tailgate is back on I added a tailgate step/ladder. Beech Lane Pickup Truck Tailgate Ladder - Universal Fit, Stainless Steel Self Drilling Hex Screws for Easy Install, Durable Aluminum Step Grip Plates, and Sturdy Rubber Ladder Feet
