Will The Stealth Hitch Stick Under the Bumper When The Receiver is Removed?

Question:

With the receiver removed, it appears no part hangs below the trim line. True? My concern is changing the ground clearance or departure angle when driving in a “clean” configuration. I recognize adding the receiver will reduce the ground clearance by at least 2” and significantly change the departure angle. I can handle that when I’m carrying a bike rack but don’t want to be concerned that I’ll scrape off the assembly during everyday driving.

Hey, David!

Nope, when the removable receiver is taken off the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH34CR, nothing will hang below your bumper or fascia. That's one of the main things that Stealth Hitch focuses on when designing their hitches.

What kind of bikes do you have?

Thank you. We have two Lectric XP4 (75 lbs each). We also have a Bike Friday tandem. Thinking of buying a new vehicle and need it to come with a hitch or at least the clearance to add one. On the Ioniq 5, the bottom of most hitches is only 8” off the ground and at the edge of the bumper. For the once a week I’m driving with something on the hitch, a can be very careful around speed bumps or steep transitions between side road and main road (mini ditch). Not something I want to think about everyday. Thanks again for your help.

@David I've always wanted to try out a tandem bike. Was it easy to get used to when your first got it?
