Hello Mike,
Thanks for writing in.
The Trailer Mate Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # TMT67FR is going to be a great fit for your 2020 Toyota Highlander. The hitch itself weighs around 36 pounds.
If you are looking to tow a light trailer without brakes, you will also need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C76CR.
If you are planning to tow a trailer with brakes, you will still start with the # C76CR, then build on top of it by installing the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. You will need to run a power line from your battery to the 7-way at the back, along with a couple of connections under the hood. You will also run a brake signal wire from the brake pedal to the rear 7-way. It is a bit time consuming, but not that difficult.
If you are towing something with brakes, you will also need a brake controller. I really like the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller with Universal Wiring Harness - Dash Knob - Proportional # RED52VR. Having the small knob on the dash makes it easy to adjust, and if you ever need the manual override, it is right within arm’s reach.
Need a ball mount? Check out our etrailer Ball Mount with Pre-Torqued 2" Ball - 2" Hitch - 2" Drop - 7,500 lbs # e67DR. I really like that the hitch ball has a black nickel coating. It gives it a nice sleek look.
I know you just asked about the weight of the hitch, but I wanted to include the other parts as well, just in case.
What are you planning to use the hitch for? Bike rack, cargo carrier, towing, or something else?
