Updated 05/07/2026 | Published 02/05/2026

Question:

I just purchased a Roadmaster Nighthawk 676 with safety chains and electrical cable, to hook up my 2019 Ford Ranger FX4 with adaptive cruise control to be towed behind a Jayco Greyhawk, what are the recommended pieces will I need to complete this setup?

Hey, Steve!

Happy to help out. I'll include a full list of everything you would need to complete your flat tow set up, including a braking system.

Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Part # RM-524459-5
Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit - Part # RM-152
Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Braking System - Part # DM86VR
Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit - Part # RM-156-25
Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit - Part # RM-88400

All these parts will work on your Ranger and make sure that when you reach your destination, your battery wont be dead.

What travel plans do you have for the season so far?

Hey Steve, how did your flat tow setup with the Nighthawk tow bar and Ranger come together? Your experience could point others toward the right gear for their own setups.

Hi Gwendolyn, Thanks for the reply, sorry for the late response, but I'm getting closer to purchasing. One piece I think I'm missing, is since I got the Roadmaster Nighthawk 676 used, it is missing the plug for the wiring harness that would be attached to the Ranger, do you have a parts number for that? Thank you.

@SteveC We sure do! The replacement plug/wiring for the nighthawk is # RM-1676-7R

@GwendolynY What about the female connector that attaches to the truck itself? My tow bar has the wiring harness, but nothing for it to plug into on the truck, unless it comes with one of the other pieces you've listed above.
