Question:
I have a 7x12 enclosed trailer that I would like to attach this awning to. I do not have a roof rack on it - are there adaptors that would work?

Hi Jen!
The Yakima OverNOut Awning - Roof Rack Mount - Clamp On - 6' 6" Long x 6' 6" Wide # Y36VR really does need to be installed on a roof rack as there are no adapters available, but I think I have a couple options that may interest you.
First would be to actually add a roof rack. This could be done with the following parts:
Yakima CoreBar Crossbar - Steel - Black - 80" Long - Qty 1 # 8880656
SkyLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Track Systems - Qty 4 # Y53TR
Landing Pad 26 for Yakima SkyLine Towers - Qty 2 # Y75ZR
Yakima 72" HD Tracks for Roof Racks, SkyLine towers # Y84MR
This would be a fairly expensive way to go, but I think it would end up being the best way to go. You would need to get two bars and two of the landing pads to complete the roof rack, but it would absolutely let you attach the Yakima OverNOut Awning (and other things if you every wanted to). And it would still be less expensive than doing something like the Solera XL 12V Power RV Awning - 11' Wide - 9' 8" Projection # LC56AF, which I think would also work, but I don't think is the best option (still figured I should mention it though).
Another option would be the Rhino-Rack Sunseeker Awning - Roof Rack Mount - Bolt On - 8' 1" Long x 6' 10" Wide # RR32133. This also technically needs a roof rack to be installed, but I think you could do something with the Angled Up Mounting Brackets # RR32123 or Angled Down Mounting Brackets # RR32127 to get them mounted to your roof. Again, it will take some customization, but it could be done.
The last option will be the Moon Fabrications MoonShade Pro Vehicle-Mounted Awning with Modular Walls # MN27FR. Now, I will admit to not having any practical experience with this as it is a new part for us, but It is an interesting concept. It's also pretty easy to attach as all you really need are the included adhesive anchors. It's definitely very different from the other options, but I think it's worth a look! : )
Are you building a camping trailer?

Hey Jen, what did you end up going with for your 7x12 trailer—did you add a roof rack for the Yakima OverNOut awning or try one of the other options like the MoonShade Pro? Your update could make it easier for others looking to add shade to a similar trailer setup.
