Which RapidRamps Bolt On Trailer Ramp Kit Is Best For My Car Hauler Trailer?

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 02/02/2026

Question:

I’m looking at the 5 foot and 6 foot RapidRamps with swinging bracket adapters for my trailer and not sure which length I really need. Is longer always better? I don't have ramps yet for my car hauler. thank you.

Hey there Daniel - it really depends on your trailer height and what you’re loading.

The 6' RapidRamps kits (part numbers # e47XV for 5–6-1/2' wide trailers and # e67XV for trailers over 6-1/2' wide) give you a gentler approach angle, which is ideal for low-clearance equipment, cars, or heavier UTVs. The 5' RapidRamps kits (part numbers # e37XV for 5–6-1/2' wide trailers and # e97XV for over 6-1/2' wide trailers) still support the same weight but are often a better fit if your trailer sits lower or you’re tight on space behind the trailer when loading.

All four kits are rated at 3,000 lbs per ramp, so strength isn’t the deciding factor - it really comes down to approach angle and clearance. If you can share your trailer deck height and what you plan to load, I can help narrow it down even further.

Thanks Andrew. My trailer deck is about 20 inches off the ground and I’ll mostly be loading a lowered Mustang and maybe a small SUV once in a while. Does that push me one way or the other?

@Daniel That helps a lot! With a 20-inch deck height and a lowered Mustang, I’d definitely go with the 6' ramps for a smoother approach. If your trailer is 5 - 6-1/2 feet wide, that would be # e47XV, and if it’s wider than that, # e67XV would be the right match. Have fun and safe travels! I need to haul my project car this weekend and I wish I already had these RapidRamps installed; that will be my next upgrade too haha.
