Folding Trailer Ramp Add-On Kit For 6 Foot Wide Trailer To Haul Lawn Tractor And Car

Published 02/02/2026

Question:

My trailer is just under 6-1/2 feet wide, about 6 foot wide, and I load a low-clearance lawn tractor mower. Should I go with the 5 foot or 6 foot RapidRamps? are they rated high enough for a car if I ever need to haul one? thank you

Aaron, since your trailer falls in the 5 - 6-1/2 foot width range, your two options are the 5' RapidRamps kit # e37XV or the 6' RapidRamps kit # e47XV. For low-clearance equipment like a lawn tractor mower, the 6' kit is usually the better choice because it gives you a gentler approach angle and reduces the chance of scraping when loading.

The 5' kit can still work if your trailer deck sits lower to the ground or you’re limited on space behind the trailer, but most people loading mowers, UTVs, or similar equipment prefer the extra length of the 6' ramps.

As far as capacity goes, both kits are rated at 3,000 lbs per ramp (6,000lbs combined since weight is evenly transferred from vehicle), which is plenty for a typical lawn tractor and also sufficient for loading many passenger cars, assuming the vehicle’s weight and clearance are under 6,000lbs total and your trailer is rated to handle it as well.

If you can share your trailer deck height and the type of car you’d potentially haul, I can help make sure the ramp length and approach angle would be a good match.
