I was hoping to find a hitch that bolts to the frame rather than the bumper. I have a 2021 forest river wildwood xlite. does this exist?

Hi Matt!

There are indeed options to add a hitch to the frame of your 2021 Forest River Wildwood X-Lite. The Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch # 13703 is the one I usually recommend as it will fit almost everything.

That said, your frame needs to be between 22" and 72" wide for this to fit properly. I couldn't find a frame measurement anywhere for your camper, so I do recommend double checking that before ordering anything. Odds are you are fine, but I'm a measure twice cut once kind of person. If you end up getting a measurement that this won't cover, just let me know and I can find a better option for you.

One other thing, what are you going to be using the hitch for? This Curt is rated up to 3,500 pounds towing and 350 pounds of tongue weight. It tends to cover most things, but we may have a heavier duty option for you depending on that frame measurement.

@MattM The Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13702 will fit frames from 18" to 51" wide, so it is a little more narrow, but it can handle up to 500 pounds of tongue weight. For what you are needing, I think this would be a better option as long as your frame falls somewhere between that 18" and 51" measurement. What kind of bike rack is it? Don't see them for 6 bikes very often.

It’s a vertical bike rack by Thule. My space between axels is 68” so the other would have to work I am under 300 lbs with bikes and rack so that will probably b fine.

@MattM Forgot about the Thule ReVert rack. One thing I do need to note about that rack though, it technically isn't approved for use on a camper (travel or 5th wheel). That doesn't mean people haven't used it with them, but I do have to mention that doing so will void the warranty on it.

@MattM It is and is something that will get you more clearance, but I do not recommend it. Those kinds of adapters cut the tongue weight of the hitch in half as it moves the weight out further and makes another spot for things to move around. Anti-rattle devices will help with this aspect, but they will never get rid of all of it. If you can get everything installed and fitting properly without one, it will be the better way to go. That said, if you still want to go with one, make sure there is tongue weight listed. If you look at the Roadmaster # RM-048-8, you can see down the page where is says tongue weight and towing weight. If one you are looking at doesn't say tongue weight anywhere, it cannot be used. I included a link to our page with all our options for you to check out as well. Then to stabilize one, the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061 is among my favorites. It's a simple part, but it does a great job.

Hey Ronald, it sounds like you are looking for something like the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Adapter part #RM83SR which can do a 4 inch drop and then has a higher hitch opening that you could use for your bike rack. What tow bar are you using?
