Can Swagman E-Spec Pro Bike Rack be Used at Rear of Travel Trailer

Updated 04/16/2026 | Published 04/12/2026

Question:

I did a search on 2 bike, e-bike, travel trailer rated bike racks, and the Swagman E spec Pro does not show as a choice. Is there a reason? Based on the description, seems like it should. We have a Grand Design Imagine XLS trailer with a receiver hitch and no bumper and are looking to take two e bikes with us that are just below 60 lbs each.

Hey Charles, the Swagman E-Spec part # S45SR is rated for use at the rear of a travel trailer so it will work great for you. It is odd that it's not closer connected to the other RV rated bike racks but that's our fault and I'll see if I can get that addressed! When used at rear of RV it is rated for up to 70 lbs so your 60 lb bikes would work just fine. What kind of bikes do you have?

We've just ordered a Velotric Discover 3 and a Velotric Breeze. Both are step through, so both would need cross bar adapters since the Swagman E spec clamps at the cross bar and at the bottom of the wheels. Both also have fenders, so not sure how well the Let's go Aero V-lectric would work at all since it clamps at the top and bottom of each wheel.

@CharlesB Here's a link to a picture of the Lets Go Aero V-Lectric VFR Bike Rack # LGA25VR being used to carry step thru bike frames with fenders at the back of a travel trailer. I think it would work for you: https://images.etrailer.com/static/images/pics/r/i/rid3161374_r4_1000.jpg

@JamesonC Confirmed...... the V-Lectric 3.0 model won't work. Would have to be the VFR model at 1000 bucks, so looks like back to the Swagman plus 2 cross member adapters. Per the V-Lectric site for the 3.0 model, "May not fit ebikes with rear racks/baskets/large fenders (see VFR model #B02394, or Ramp-Up add-on accessory #B02370)"

@CharlesB gotcha! You could use the bike frame adapter bar part # UB01 with the E-Spec then.
