Question:
Good morning. Im purchasing a class 3 hitch for my 2019 Kia Sorento LX. Ive decided on the etrailer model e98843. Looks like there are two wiring harnesses available: Curt C56256 for and the universal installation kit ETBC7. What is the difference between these and are both compatible with the eTrailer hitch? Thanks!

Hello Daniel,
Our etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98843 is going to be a great fit for your 2019 Kia Sorento. I really like how our hitch is the only one that comes in the Matte Black finish. It really gives it that nice OEM look.
When it comes to the wiring, it depends on what you’re using it for. If you just need wiring for a hitch-mounted accessory, or a light trailer that doesn’t have brakes, you’ll want the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56256. This wiring gets the lights working on your trailer by tying into the connectors in your taillights, and running power line to the battery, it is best to run the wire along the bottom of the car, make sure it is not near moving parts, and keep it secure with zip ties.
If you’re looking to pull a trailer with brakes, you would still start by installing the # C56256, then build on top of that with the kit we put together in-house, the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. When installing the # ETBC7 you’ll need to run a power wire from the battery to the rear with a couple of amps, and you’ll also need to run a brake wire from the front to the rear of the vehicle.
If you need to complete your setup with a ball mount, check out our etrailer Ball Mount w/ Pre-Torqued 2" Ball - 2" Hitch - 2-3/4" Rise - 7,500 lbs # e38NR.
What are you looking to use the hitch and wiring for?

Hey Daniel, how did things go with the hitch and wiring on your Sorento? Did the Curt harness and ETBC7 kit give you the setup you needed for your trailer? Your update could make it easier for others working on the same combination.
