2020 Hyundai Santa Fe

I must admit that the ease of installation for a hitch thanks to factory prepared spots in the frame was a factor in my purchase of my 2020 Santa Fe. I really wanted to be able to make use of a hitch mounted bike carrier that I've had for several years.
Installation went pretty smoothly overall thanks to the videos that etrailer provides on the sight.
I did have a bit of trouble with the long bolts on the passenger side, even with my son helping me with the install. I ended up needing a hammer and long screwdriver to tap the bolt through to frame. However, after that, it was pretty straight forward.
Install was made a lot easier thanks to a pair of ramps that I have - $40 from a local vendor that have been well worthwhile for getting under my vehicles for things like oil changes.
The hitch is reasonably well hidden, particularly when viewed from a normal height and distance.
With my 4 bike carrier, even with a bike in the closest position to the tailgate, there's no danger of my bike/pedals hitting the car and scratching up the paint. And, with the drop capability of the carrier, I can actually access the cargo area of my Santa Fe without having to unload my bike. Really looking forward to taking this out for some camping trips and biking some trails.

Product arrived quickly and packaged appropriately. I am not a mechanic but after watching the videos on this website, I decided to try this installation myself. The instructions stated a novice installer could complete it in 90 minutes. It took me 3 hours. I installed the hitch alone and took my time to not rush anything. The biggest challenge was lifting the hitch up by myself while installing the mounting bolts. I would suggest a helper for this step but none the less I was able to get it up there with the support of an extra jack stand to hold one end while I affixed the other. This seems like a solid hitch although we will only be using it for a bike rack. It was half the price of the "factory" hitch that the dealer offered and I saved $300 by installing myself. I would recommend this hitch and etrailer.com had the best price I could find.

Still happy with the hitch. We do not tow. Only used for a bike rack.

etrailer was the best place to get a hitch. I was price shopping for my 2018 Kia Sorento. I have a small 4x4 harbor Frieght trailer. The installation videos were a great help and to be truthful the only reason I called them was because I watched the videos and figured I could do the work. I did however get confused with the wire harness. Daniel was the assistant that answered my call and within minutes he had the help I needed. I put in a picture and it took about 1 hour to install the hitch but wire harness was a little longer then saw in video but still ran and hooked up as I saw in the Video. The ONLY regret I have is I like my accessories on my car to look great ( So I should have bought a new ball and receiver) I WILL BE BACK FOR MORE. Thank You Quinn, Nichole, and Daniel. You made this a project that was effortless. Thank you etrailer for your quality of products and staff.

Second submitted review. I had bought the trailer hitch for pulling my mechanics toolbox trailer and was hit with a mobility issue so I now use it mainly for my wheelchair and scooter. I still standby my first review this has been the best company to have purchased from. The E-trailer staff will never turn there back on you, every time you need anything they are only a call away thank You again to your staff.

I ordered this Curt hitch receiver for my 2017 Kia Sorento and it was very easy to install. it took me about 4 hours to do the hitch plus the wiring but thats mostly because I had no choice but to do this on my back and take several breaks. The wiring for it, which the site specifies which one you need when you pick this hitch receiver, is completely plug and play so its very simple. NO DRILLING IS REQUIRED! I was very pleased with the results of this install.

Well, the installation was a little different than expected... Had no problem lowering the spare tire and dropping the exhaust. The problem we had was that the bolt holes on the passenger side would not line up. After reading other reviews from etrailer and other sources, it seemed like I wasn’t the only one who had this problem. We ended up strapping a row rope to the right side of the hitch and connecting it to a Dodge truck. Pulled until the bolts lined up (didn’t need to move it much.). 3 people, and 3 hours later, we got it done (if you account the rain delay). If there’s a next time, I’ll spend the $125.00 to have someone else install it.

That is one of the most inventive ways we have seen customers solve the flexed hitch problem. And it sounds like it worked just dandy! The problem you are describing is not uncommon and is what we call a flexed hitch. The hitches do occasionally get bent slightly out of shape during the shipping process. Just check and make sure that you dont see any cracks in the paint or chipping where it was flexed, because that would indicate the hitch has been manipulated enough to be considered unsafe.

Rock solid product and easy to install. Great price, quick shipping and very personal follow up. I purchased a wiring harness for another vehicle a couple years ago from etrailer, Madison was great help then and was the first person who reached out to me with this order. Great team at etrailer!

2020 Hyundai Santa Fe

Installation was straightforward and simple, just follow the video. We did use a lift, and that made it much easier than laying on the ground like I did when installing the eTrailer hitch on my Honda CR-V.

I purchased the Curt hitch over the eTrailer this time because it sticks out a little further past the bumper. I have the Thule T2 Pro XL bike rack and wanted the extra clearance. Your bike rack video shown the installation of the eTrailer hitch using the Thule T2 XL, on a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe, same SUV I have, and the clearance is only 1 1/2 inches so I wanted a little more clearance. The Curt hitch provides 3 inches of clearance between the bike rack and the back of the SUV.

Thanks for proving all the installation videos, it really helps in making the correct decision.

by:

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Ultimate 2.0T HTRAC. The hitch is beautiful, top quality built, fast delivery, excellent customer service (Thanks becky!). The only problem was during installation, the video fails to take into account a steel pin that gets in the way on the side over the muffler and also the fact that there is a small gap of about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch between the hitch and the frame of the car on that side as well. If you use a crow bar you can move the pin over and the gap starts out a little big but just tighten the bolts as best you can and that should tighten it up a little. I was told by etrailer that as long as its tightened up it is normal and the gap shouldn't be a problem for towing. Haven't towed anything yet but very happy with purchase and just wish I knew about those little details, otherwise would be 5 stars.

by:

Installed the C13195 in my new Santa Fe so I didn't have any problems with dirt or crud accumulated at the attachment points. I did the most of the work by myself so it took a while to complete the installation. Since I'm 67 years old it took a while but I imagine two hours would be a realistic time for two people. We'll use the hitch to carry a receiver mounted bike rack and tow a trailer. The money we saved buying from etrailer, and doing the installation myself, paid for a complete Thule Roof Rack system. We're to travel. Thanks etrailer.

2018 Kia Sorento

Application is a 2018 Kia Sorento. Well, you certainly could argue that this is now the heaviest piece of metal on this car. Very substantial, heavy metal attractive hitch nicely powder coated. Arrived with no visible damage and installation generally went without a hitch. (Sorry). Generally. Turns out, whether due to manufacturing tolerances on the hitch or in South Korea, the hitch was NOT an exact fit. Bolt holes did not align perfectly and despite slots, they were out of reach of the threads on the bottom pre-threaded holes. Solution was to insert and tighten sideways mounting carriage bolts to stretch the hitch an ocean rabbit or two in order to get the bottom bolts into their threads properly. then it was an ordeal of back and forth tightening and loosening to slowly coax the hitch into position for bolting, and then into best position for strength. Even after all that, the metal plate that bolts to the frame rails never did align well with an (eventually) modest gap between the passenger frame rail and the hitch's side plate for that rail. See photo (doesn't show it the best but there's a gap). I cranked those carriage bolts as tight as i could without either them giving up or me bending the framerail on the truck. So, now on the passenger side i have two carriage bolts and two vertical bolts carrying the hitch basically in shear, without the full benefit and strength of the clamping effect of that side plate. It will probably be OK for my uses but i'll need to be extra vigilant retightening for a while and it is definitely compromised strength in my non-professional opinion. Other than that, installation instructions and everything were as represented. I probably would have gone with 3 stars but the hitch may be a little over-built so i should be OK. Still, a real bear to install properly.

2016 Kia Sorento

This is the same hitch that the factory installs. My only issue is that it sits pretty low, that that doesn't have anything to do with the hitch. It is very easy to install and extremely solid. I do use Airlift 1000 airbags to adjust for sag and improve the ride while towing a trailer with 300+ lbs of tongue weight.

by:
2019 Hyundai Santa Fe

Purchased for a 2019 Santa Fe - After doing some research and reading reviews on here, I took a chance on this tow hitch. I was very happy with the end results as this hitch looks flawless on my vehicle. One minor issue was that my mechanic said that since this hitch was universal, he had to make a slight adjustment in order for the wire harness to fit. Other than that, everything went smooth and the installation was completed within an hour.

Excellent purchase!!

2016 Kia Sorento

The Curt Trailer Hitch makes it easy to use the bike rack. Since it's made to custom fit my KIA Sorento 2016, the installation on the car did not take long for a professional car shop. I've had a chance to use it a number of times by now, and am very satisfied with the purchase.
etrailer made the purchase easier by indicating exactly which hitch is needed.

by:

Relatively easy install. The area around the exhaust is precarious at times. Make sure you have all the tools on hand and you can get an exhaust hangar tool online for around $20 and makes dropping the exhaust very easy. After buying ramps, torque wrench, wiring, etc it was still a savings of nearly $200 over anyone else putting a hitch on the car...but now I can't blame anyone if it comes flying off.

by:
2016 Kia Sorento

We used online reviews to compare and ended up ordering directly from etrailer as opposed to other online vendors and they did not disappoint,

Ordering is very easy, delivery was fast and in great condition. We got it professionally installed as I am not an expert and things are looking great. We had a bike rack on it with 4 bikes and are enjoying riding them within 2 weeks or ordering the hitch.

I highly recommend this product and vendor.

by:

Very easy to install. Very good instructions on paper and in video. It took around an hour. Hitch does not stick out too far so it is hidden well. This is the 2nd vehicle I have installed an etrailer hitch on. Previous vehicle was the same easy install.

Hitch arrived well packed. I had [local shop] install it for approximatley $160. I will use the hitch to transport bikes.

The hitch once installed on my 2019 Santa Fe needed an extension to get my bike rack away from the bumper/back of the car. Once the extension was installed everything worked as expected.

So far so good. It took a while to ship I'm guessing due to demands with Covid but it was in good condition when it arrived. I had my mechanic install it. He said all the parts where there and it went on pretty easily if you follow the install video. The hitch is low profile and doesn't stick out.

  • Best Bike Rack For Hauling 4 Bikes On A 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe

Yes the Curt # C13195 hitch is exactly what you'll need for carrying a few bikes on the back of your 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. it has a 2" receiver and 750 lb tongue weight capacity so 4 bikes will not be a problem.
