Will Stromberg Carlson Powered Jack # JET-5000 Allow Tailgate to Fold Down

Question:
I am interested in the Jet-5000 trailer jack as a replacement. I have a 2016 3500 Silverado and a 37foot Jayco trailer. My question is will my tailgate go up and down with no problem with this jack if installed straight?

Hey Carl, that will depend on a few dimensions on your truck and trailer that we don't know but I can still help. When the jack part # JET-5000 is installed it will be 23 inches above the mounting bracket like you see in the attached picture. If when your tailgate is fold down it sits above the current jack mount on the trailer when hitched up then I would assume it wouldn't allow the tailgate to fold down. Depending on what you have now though a longer ball mount could push the tailgate further away and give you the clearance you need.

Hey Carl, what did you find out about the tailgate clearance with the Jet-5000 jack on your Silverado and Jayco trailer? Once you checked those measurements, did the longer ball mount give you the space you needed? Your update could make it easier for others working with similar setups.
